Lauren Conrad was among the celebrity guests who ventured out to LA's Palihouse last night to preview the new shoes from Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet. She was joined by other celebs like Jordana Brewster, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Maria Menounos, and Shenae Grimes. LC, no stranger to design ventures herself, was decked out in one of Stacey's dresses and her signature "fun bun." Lauren hit the bash, which featured a tree made of shoes, despite being busy lately putting the finishing touches on her own new Paper Crown designs. Lauren's also spending time stocking her website, The Beauty Department, with the latest in hair and makeup trends. A recent posting was about at a hip way to do braids. LC's even ventured into the kitchen to address her cravings for Italian food, attempting to make a carbless pizza.
This week on Twitter, we got some behind-the-scenes sneak peeks from a photo shoot with Hilary Rhoda, went to Milan Fashion Week with Brad Goreski, and even spotted Nina Garcia and her new "girl crush" Kim Kardashian filming the new season of Project Runway. Last night at the 2011 CFDA Fashion Awards in New York City, models, designers, and celebrities walked the red carpet in gorgeous gowns and playsuits. Their jewellery, as expected, was to die for and their makeup was flawless. Whilst many women decided on slick buns or pulled-back hair, the beauty trend I saw the most of was long, wavy hair with a strong part. Check out these eight amazing hairstyle, and vote on whose you like most at the end!
It's not exactly the way we wore our knotted tops in the '90s, but the easy-chic, slightly undone feel that comes with that tied top is back. We love the nonchalance of a knotted top with high-waist denim, or over our favorite printed sundresses like we've seen on celebrities. That said, we're taking styling notes from these lovely ladies. From AnnaLynne McCord's '70s-style take to Kristin Cavallari's breezy elegance, click through for a celebrity-inspired tutorial in outfitting your knotted tops for Summer.
The CW held its upfronts in NYC today, and the network announced it's adding six shows to its Fall lineup with stars like Sarah Michelle Gellar and Rachel Bilson. The programs include SMG's Ringer, which will air Tuesdays with 90210. Rachel, who shared a hug with costar Jaime King, was all smiles due to the success of her latest Josh Schwartz endeavor, Hart of Dixie. She shuttled between LA and North Carolina to shoot the pilot earlier this year and has lately kept the frequent flying miles coming between jaunts to France to work with Chanel's Karl Lagerfeld. The Vampire Diaries stars Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, and Paul Wesley were all in attendance to receive the news that their popular vampire series has been renewed. 90210 castmates AnnaLynne McCord, Shenae Grimes, and Tristan Wilds were in for similar celebrations. Another of the CW's hits, Gossip Girl, wrapped up this week with a dramatic season finale, though only newcomer Kaylee DeFer was on hand for this morning's press event.
The first time I noticed 90210 star Shenae Grimes's black heart on her face, I thought it was makeup, but after seeing it for the second time this month, I think it may be a permanent tattoo. I've never considered getting a tattoo anywhere on my body, really, but a small one like this under the eye sure seems easy enough to cover with the right concealer. What about you — would you get a tattoo on your face?
*Note, I've been informed that Shenae's tattoo is actually part of a campaign called Spread The Heart, which helps raise money for the Japan relief effort. This is really nice to see how beauty can help others. Shenae, you caught my attention and all for a great cause!
This was a banner year for two-toned hair, which, following in the footsteps of the popular ombrè clothing trend of 2008-2009, is now known from Hollywood to Europe as ombrè hair. Some of the most beautiful celebrities have lightened their locks at the ends only, and paid quite a respectable price to achieve this 'grown out highlights look'. What do you think of ombrè hair, and out of these ten women, who do you think pulls it off best?
Twilight stars Taylor Lautner and Kellan Lutz looked smart in their suits as they posed with other handsome guys like James Franco at the GQ Men of the Year party in LA last night. The US magazine bestowed the honour on four men — James Franco, Drake, Jeff Bridges and Stephen Colbert — while Scarlett Johansson was named Babe of the Year. James has been busy promoting 127 Hours, and his next movie, Your Highness, has a distinctly different feel: check out the trailer. Kellan kept his gym-honed muscles covered, while Taylor was without his Abduction costar Lily Collins for the party. The actors were joined by Anna Kendrick last night, and they'll be heading back to Louisiana soon to continue shooting Breaking Dawn.
The gorgeous Franco brothers were out in force in LA at the 127 Hours premiere last night. James made the trip from New York where the film premiered earlier in the week, after discussing the movie at the London Film Festival. Director Danny Boyle attended, as did guest Kellan Lutz, stars Kate Mara and Amber Tamblyn, and Aron Ralston — who James plays in the film. James went for a formal Gucci suit for the Hollywood screening, while Dave looked more relaxed without a tie — just for fun, who's your fave Franco brother?
Do you like scary movies? Fourteen years ago (can you believe it?), Wes Craven made those five words one of the most terrifying questions in movie history with Scream. Three films later, and Sydney, Gale, and Dewey are still on the run from the latest Ghostface Killer. This time they're joined by an onslaught of fresh blood (mostly pretty young things like Lucy Hale, Hayden Panettiere, and Emma Roberts) in the new trailer for Scream 4.
Rory Culkin plays the token horror-movie aficionado, taking us through "the rules," though the 21st century brings some changes. The murders have to be more extreme, the killer wants to videotape all of his conquests, and — gasp! — virgins aren't safe anymore! The first look at the reunion of Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette has me giddy for more, and dare I say the upcoming installment looks even better than Scream 3.
