Prince William Helps Cate Blanchett Premiere The Hobbit in London

Cate Blanchett and Ian McKellen celebrated the royal premiere of their new film, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, in London today.

Cate Blanchett and Ian McKellen celebrated the royal premiere of their new film, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, in London today. Cate and Ian were joined by costar Martin Freeman and Lord of the Rings' Dominic Monaghan. Although this Hobbit film, the first of three, is being released after the Lord of the Rings trilogy, it is actually based on the novel that inspired the original Lord of the Rings book series. They weren't at the London premiere, but LOTR's Liv Tyler and Elijah Wood attended last week's NYC screening of The Hobbit.

Prince William also attended the premiere but without his pregnant wife, Kate Middleton. Unfortunately, Kate had to cancel her planned appearance earlier this week due to her continued battle with acute morning sickness.

Stars Celebrate And Spar At The GQ Awards

After the glamorous arrivals it was time to get down to the nitty gritty of the GQ Men Of The Year Awards and give out the gongs.

After the glamorous arrivals it was time to get down to the nitty gritty of the GQ Men Of The Year Awards and give out the gongs. There were some fab photo opportunities as the stars collided – Dave Grohl and Bobby Gillespie looked like twins with their long hair, Josh Brolin got a kiss on the cheek from Thandie Newton, and a bewildered-looking Boris Johnson received his award from Trinny and Susannah. My favourite, James Corden, received his breakthrough award from Gavin and Stacey co-writer Ruth Jones, and Alfie Allen and Jaime Winstone had their engagement revealed by Alfie's sister Lily who introduced Jamie as "my future sister-in-law". Mysteriously Alfie just said "Well, now you know" in response.

Speaking of Lily, she and Elton John had a bit of a spar at the ceremony, as Lily introduced "the most important part of the night", Elton apparently interjected "What? Are you going to have another drink?" Lily then responded "F*** off Elton, I'm 40 years younger than you and have my whole life ahead of me!" He retorted, "I could still snort you under the table", and Lily replied "F*** off. I don't know what you're talking about." Wow.

Hostess Lily Tells Harrowing Tale At GQ Awards

The GQ Men Of The Year awards ceremony took place in London last night, hosted by Lily Allen in front of a room full of famous faces.

The GQ Men Of The Year awards ceremony took place in London last night, hosted by Lily Allen in front of a room full of famous faces. Lily wore a big attention-grabbing dress as hostess (which apparently proved slightly difficult to walk in), and spilled a terrifying story about her friend who was kidnapped and locked in a car boot for seven days. She said: "I just want to thank the Met Police. They did an incredible job. He was in a car boot being driven around London before he was found. It was all over money." Scary.

She was looking worry-free last night though, and was among some other gorgeous women in stunning dresses like Thandie Newton, Daisy Lowe (love her dress), Kirsty Gallacher, Ruth Jones, Denise Van Outen, Elizabeth Hurley, Miranda Kerr and Elle MacPherson. Those men of the year must have been very thankful! There were also handsome chaps at the ceremony for every taste, including Dave Grohl, lovely James Corden, Orlando Bloom, Gordon Ramsay, Will Young and Mark Ronson. Once you've had a good look through our gallery, stay tuned for all the winners as well as some pics from inside the ceremony later on today!
