Despite torrents of rain at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards, also known as the BAFTAs, celebrities played dress-up yet again. After inspecting a slew of Hollywood hotties, we've narrowed down our favorites. From Angelina Jolie's neon sliced Armani Prive to Freida Pinto's layered Osca de la Renta loveliness, we were impressed with the diverse selection of frocks.

Besides mermaid dresses on the BAFTA Award's red carpet there were also plenty of ruffles and tiers. In my opinion, Freida stole the show in a gorgeous Oscar de la Renta gown which complemented her complexion. Emily Mortimer also went for tiers in a bow adorned Yves Saint Laurent dress and red carpet host Alesha Dixon wore a black Giovanni ruffled frock with elegant evening gloves and sleek straight hair.

Celebrating its ninth year as the official BAFTA Awards sponsor, Lancôme decided to debut a limited edition collection to mark the occasion. The eleven-item range contains a bright red lipstick, black, red and pink ultra-shiny glosses, black and brick red nail varnishes, mascara, primer, foundation, highlighter and powder. It was created by new Lancôme Makeup Artistic Director Aaron De Mey (an eclectic young thing) and will be available until 28 February.

On Sunday many familiar faces from this award season went to London to walk the red carpet in the rain at the BAFTAs. Angelina Jolie mixed it up with a splash of yellow while Brad Pitt wore a classic tux. Kate Winslet took home the Leading Actress trophy for The Reader while Penelope Cruz finally won Best Supporting Actress.

Fearne Cotton had a break from her regular work schedule this weekend as she hosted Orange's Red Carpet coverage at the BAFTA Awards, interviewing stars including Mickey Rourke, Dev Patel, Freida Pinto and so many more! On Saturday she headed to the Radio One studios looking casual, and adding a pop of colour to her outfit — and the cold winters day — with her purple shoes.
Last night she looked glam in her BAFTAs outfit — my girl FabUK has all the details on what she was wearing — and I was close by as she waited for the stars to arrive, filmed pieces to camera and tried to keep warm.

All of the nominees who chose to walk tonight's BAFTA Awards red carpet wearing their hair up came out on top. About halfway through the glamorous coverage, the skies opened up and the rains came pouring down. Luckily, umbrellas and willing assisants were there to shield the dresses, tuxedo's and all of the hard work of makeup artists and hair dressers.

In addition to all of those well-dressed women at the Royal Opera House in London last night, the men of the acting world also rose to the glittering occasion and got suited and booted for the 2009 BAFTA Awards. Best Actor recipient Mickey Rourke jazzed up his outfit with accessories and satin while Brad Pitt went for classic elegance in his dickie bow. Orange Rising Star winner Noel Clarke and nominee Toby Kebbell looked dapper in their threads, while Dominic Cooper and Nicholas Hoult smiled wide as they supported their fellow actors.

Last night's BAFTA Awards provided plenty of glamour as most of the ladies opted for maxi dresses (perhaps a sign of the economic times). However, another trend emerged as several of the girls opted for mermaid shaped dresses. Penelope Cruz revealed her shoulders in an Alaia dress with Chopard jewels.

Last night I made my way to Covent Garden for the 2009 BAFTA Awards held at the Royal Opera House, and watched from the red carpet as all the stars made their way inside to enjoy the ceremony. There was a fab mix of Hollywood A listers and burgeoning Brit talent out in the typically British rain, but luckily much of the red carpet was undercover, and brollies were being handed out to everyone as they arrived. Penelope Cruz rushed up the thick red carpet as fast as she could, but most of the other invited ladies like Meryl Streep and Amy Adams wandered leisurely.
