Marian Newman's Favourite Summer 2019 Nail Trends

Nail Artist Marian Newman Shares Her Favourite (and Most Fantastical) Summer Nail Trends

Nail artist Marian Newman has manicured the hands of Lady Gaga, Kate Moss, and Brad Pitt, to name a few. She's also the go-to nail tech at Fashion Weeks in London, Milan, and Paris, creating looks for Louis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen, and Vivienne Westwood. We caught up with the beauty insider — who just came out her new book, Nailed It. Nails. Fashion. Technique — to find out the nail trends she's loving for Summer 2019.

One of the looks Newman loves best are manicures that go beyond the nail. For the Manish Arora Spring/Summer '19 show, she teamed up with the artists from Pavan Henna Bar in Selfridges, who used metallic pigments to create beautifully intricate Henna art starting from the base of the nails and swirling down the back of the hands.

Newman was also keen on sharing her love of bling. For Sophia Webster, she glued Swarovski crystals and flat-back pearls onto the models' fingernails and toenails, the latter of which created sparkly accents peeking out from their heels. We'd try adding our favourite rhinestones in colours like rose quartz or amethyst to bring some good vibes wherever we go.

And what is Summer without some sweet floral accents? At Preen by Thornton Bregazzi, Newman added actual pressed flowers to the nails, using a clear base coat to adhere them to the nail and sealing them in place with a good gel top coat.
