The Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation [7] ($39) has the most matte finish of the foundations that I tried, but still has a slight shine. It gave my skin the appearance that there was no makeup on it, and that I just naturally have flawless skin. Once it sets, the medium-coverage foundation looks and feels just like skin.

The NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation [9] ($49) is a favourite of mine, as well as many of my fellow beauty editors. The foundation itself dispenses from its pump as a thick liquid then sweeps across skin to blur any blemishes and redness. Despite it being full coverage, this foundation still looks completely natural — and feels like skin once it sets. It also never transfers, even on your sweatiest of days.
