Alicia Vikander Just Gave Lara Croft's Ponytail a Practical but Beautiful Upgrade
Lara Croft is back, with Alicia Vikander stepping into Angelina Jolie's glamorous shoes for the reboot. The Oscar-winning actress delivered some serious feminine fire at the European premiere of Tomb Raider, which hits cinemas this week. She wore a beautiful custom Louis Vuitton dress, but we couldn't stop starring at her hair. She sported a twist on the ponytail that proves the style can be both pretty and practical. Hairstylist George Northwood parted Alicia's hair into three sections (probably using hair extensions to give length), and combined them in twists, securing each with hair wrapped around the hair tie to conceal it (we have a great trick for that, FYI). The look was finished with a bubble ponytail swept to one side. We can totally see Lara Croft rocking this style on her archaeological adventures.
It wasn't only her hair that convinced us that we need steal Alicia's Lara Croft style, either. Makeup artist Kelly Cornwell opted for "glossy skin and a punch of peach on the lips" with double-flick winged liner for a fiery hidden element. She began with a classic black flick and topped it with red eyeliner for a subtle but powerful detail. Get all the angles of her hair and makeup ahead.
