Antonio Berardi Spring 2012
Antonio Berardi's Spring collection was full of colour, luxurious fabrics, and feminine designs that ranged from flowy to structured. The textures also varied with soft chiffons, a bit of patent, lace, and some amazing beading. Accessories consisted of black, blush, green, and red bags with matching shoes. Like always, Antonio Berardi managed to create the image that his designs are for a strong and powerful woman, and this concept translated into hair and makeup for the show.
Hair was styled by Anthony Turner for John Frieda in a masculine rockabilly quiff mixed with soft, feminine waves. He began by applying Luxurious Volume Thickening Mousse all over and then blowing the hair. Next, he tonged hair and brushed it for a natural effect. Then, he slicked back the sides with Frizz Ease Shape and Shine Spray, and combed it through.
Makeup similarly channeled this '50s style, elegant Veronica Lake meets chic and edgy rockabilly girl. There were two different lips created, one in a lilac beige and one in a metallic red, but both were highly glossed. Since the clothing and hair were so decadent, lead makeup artist Val Garland decided to take a bold face away that had been initially planned and just lead with a strong lip.
