A Chic Take on a Childish Style at Bora Aksu
Bora Aksu looked to letters written by his mother when she was 13 for inspiration for his Autumn/Winter 2014 collection, so it's no surprise that the beauty look also took its cues from childhood. Hairstylist Liam Curran parted models' hair down the centre, slicked it down, and tied it into bunches at the nape of the neck, decorated with net bows. The lengths were then coiled tightly into two long twists that were wrapped over the head and twisted together to create a rope-coil version of a classic milkmaid braid.
Makeup by Ying Lee was also barely there, with only the tiniest hint of pink, a little soft eyeliner on the models with fair hair, and only a little more definition for those with darker hair and brows. Teamed with the many lacy collars and school-uniform-inspired looks, the finished effect was very youthful and buttoned up, but those twists definitely made for a nice change from the many plaits we've seen at recent shows!
