Calling all Burberry Babes! Here's a Friday treat for you. Burberry finally spilled the details on its much-anticipated cosmetics line today and it looks like it's going to be a goody. The brand gave an interview with industry bible Women's Wear Daily and said that the 96-part collection will launch exclusively in Harrods from July. (Mark that one in your diaries!)
The line will include blushes, pressed powders, bronzers, liquid foundations, eye shadows, eyeliners, lip glosses, lipsticks and mascaras, and run from £15 for a lip definer pencil, through to £38 for a foundation compact. A campaign has also been shot by Mario Testino, featuring newcomer Nina Porter. (Word has it she's the new Stella Tennant.)

Christopher Bailey explained,
“It started because I felt that, at shows and the shoots, the whole [Burberry] attitude is epitomized through the shoes, the bags, the clothes, the accessories, but then the face was the one thing I really struggled with. When we were doing makeup, I felt like we weren’t able to get the right attitude. It was either caked-on makeup or then just the wrong colors, the wrong tones, the wrong spirit for makeup. I wanted it to be this kind of effortless elegance.”
The colour palette of the line is meant to be like the company's trenchcoat, easy to wear, any time of day. It will also emphasise natural beauty, with lots of sheer products and nude shades. (Although, apparently there will also be colours inspired by the stormy greys an blue hues that Christopher works with regularly.)
I'm a huge fan of Burberry, and am glad that they've gone with their own unique take on the new beauty collection. It makes sense for them to do something that fits with their edgy laid-back ethos. I have yet to see the products but will let you know as soon as I see them. From the pictures, they look pretty chic with Burberry check pressings on both the lipsticks and the eye shadows. Stay tuned for updates!
