Eye shadow [1] and I don't get along. I have photos from high school to prove it. After a few short-lived months of attempting to rock bold hues as a teen, I had given up hope that one day we would go back to liking each other again. Nowadays, my daily makeup routine consists of wearing tinted BB cream and mascara — and that's if I'm trying to be fancy.

When I was asked to write an honest review about the Be Noticed Eye Shimmer Putty Powder [2] from our new beauty line, Beauty by POPSUGAR, I figured it was the universe begging me to give eye shadow another chance. I'd be lying to you if I said I wasn't nervous that the eye shadow would irritate my eyes (it had only been a couple of months since I had laser eye surgery). Plus, I didn't want to get stuck wearing those Keanu Reeves Matrix-inspired sunglasses again [3] if I did somehow poke an eye out. (Ironically, tiny sunglasses are "in" again [4] . . . go figure.) If I didn't like the product, the worst-case scenario was that I'd have fun trying on makeup and taking tons of pictures — not too shabby, if I say so myself.

I decided to try three different shades to create an everyday look, a day-to-night look, and a night-out look. The first thing I noticed when I put on the eye shadow was that it felt like I wasn't wearing any makeup at all [5], which is a HUGE win in my book. I was really happy to see that there were no harmful chemicals in the product and that the entire line of products is cruelty-free. As for the eye shadow itself, I loved that it was super sheer and buildable so I could apply however much I wanted. It also didn't hurt that it had a nice shine to it.

In conclusion, you really don't have to be a makeup expert to rock these eye shadows. While I'm too lazy to wear makeup most days, I do believe that I would wear this product when I'm in the mood. Natural Look

For the first look, I stuck to a neutral hue: a pink shimmery color aptly called "Out of This World." The shadow just glided right on, and I noticed it had just a touch of sparkle to it, which was great for an everyday look.

Day-to-Night Look

For a day-to-night look, I built on the eye shadow I already had on and decided to be adventurous by adding a bronze hue called "Believe in Magic." It was still a great everyday look but with that extra oomph factor.

Night-Out Look

Lastly, I added a touch of the shadow called "Shine Bright" to the corners of my eyes and underneath my bottom eyelids to make myself look party appropriate. Side note: this is also a great trick to make yourself look more awake.
