Here’s What the New Benefit Cosmetics Highlighters Look Like on 2 Editors

17/08/2019 - 10:30 AM

Benefit Cosmetics [1] just dropped two new highlighter shades, and after getting an exclusive sneak peek, we can confirm that these new hues will make you glow like you just got back from holiday in Greece — even if you've just been sitting in your flat bingeing Love Island [2] all Summer. And while these aren't a new formula and rather a shade extension, when something is as perfect as the Benefit boxed powders, why fix what ain't broken?

The two new hues are "Cookie" (a soft champagne with golden shimmer) and "Tickle" (a peachy gold with pink undertones). Both powder highlighters feel incredibly silky to the touch, which means that on your face they feel super lightweight and don't make your skin look the least bit dry or dusty. Although "Cookie" was featured in the Benefit Cosmetics Cheerleader Bronze Squad Palette [3] (£52), this is the first time the new shades will take the spotlight and be sold individually — and boy, are we pleased. The highlighters can be worn on their own, layered on top of cream highlighter, and even added to fixing mist to create a shimmery, iridescent all-over finish to the skin.

But don't just take our word for it — we'll let the photos speak for themselves. Ahead, see exactly what two editors thought of the new hues and how they'll be wearing them all through the Summer and beyond.

Benefit Cosmetics Cookie and Tickle Highlighter launches Aug. 9 exclusively on lookfantastic.co.uk [4], and Aug. 23 nationwide for £26 each.

"Cookie" is my favourite shade of the two, it's perfect for my light skin tone and gives just the right amount of shimmer without being glittery. It's also a colour I'll definitely wear on my eyelids and collarbones if I'm feeling super fancy. I feel confident that I'd even be able to add foundation on top of this highlighter and it would still shine through. — Tori Crowther, assistant editor

Whenever deciding on makeup, I immediately go for coral hues because of my yellow undertone. Surprisingly, although "Cookie" looks golden in the pot, it's actually a silvery-toned highlighter. I really like that it gives my skin a dewy look. — Kara Kia, editorial assistant

"Tickle" is definitely more golden than "Cookie", which I think works better for darker skin tones. However, I still loved how it looked on my complexion. The colour isn't as pink as it looks in the box, but definitely has a hint of rosiness to it. It's a great option if you aren't a fan of blush but want a bit of pink to your makeup. I'll wear "Tickle" for evenings out or when I'm a bit more tanned, and when I want my highlighter to be a little more noticeable. — TC

Pink makeup scares me! Anyone with tanned skin can relate. But as much as "Tickle" looks pink, it actually has a golden shimmer that is perfect for deeper skin tones. I love a bronzed look in the Summer, so I would definitely add a bit of "Tickle" on top of my bronzer for a bit of extra glow on my cheekbones. — KK
