These Are the Best Honest Beauty Products Available at Boots

26/11/2019 - 08:30 AM

In 2019, Jessica Alba's [1] Honest Beauty brand arrived in the UK when a limited selection of products snuck quietly onto Boots' website. The clean beauty line — which launched in the US in 2015 and sits under the Honest Company umbrella — is comprised of makeup, hair, and skincare products that are entirely free of parabens, mineral oil, and synthetic fragrances and fragrances. And while only about a quarter of the products in the range are sold at Boots, luckily, the ones that are available here in the UK are some of the top-rated in the States.

I know this because before moving to London this year, I worked as a beauty editor in New York City for 10 years. I've experienced the Honest Beauty line since its inception, interviewed Alba about some of the products, and incorporated many into my daily makeup and skincare routine over the years. Sure, you'll have to hop across the pond to nab the gorgeous liquid lipstick [2] and does-it-all beauty balm stick [3], but you can easily get your hands on the cream foundation — a favourite of Alba's makeup artist Daniel Martin — and the face oil, which is a staple in my Winter skincare regimen. Keep reading to discover the rest of the Honest Beauty products worth investing in.

Honest Beauty Magic Beauty Balm

I apply the Honest Beauty Magic Beauty Balm [4] (£16) every morning before I do my makeup, and by the time I've swiped on my blush (the last step of my routine), my lips are soft, smooth, and ready for whatever product I put on top of it, be it lipstick, tinted lip balm, or a stain. And because it's formulated to be used on whatever dry skin you have, I also tend to rub some on my cuticles for good measure.

Honest Beauty Gentle Gel Cleanser

I don't often use a gel cleanser (I'm more of a cream cleanser kind-a-girl), but when I do (after the gym, when I've worn a lot of makeup), it's usually the Honest Beauty Gentle Gel Cleanser [5] (£16). The gentle gel doesn't strip the skin, in part thanks to the fact there's glycerin in the formula, and it's incredibly soothing, due to the addition of calendula and chamomile extracts.

Honest Beauty Organic Beauty Facial Oil

The Honest Beauty Organic Beauty Facial Oil [6] (£32) is hands down the product I've used the longest from the brand. It's jam-packed with a variety of oils — olive, sunflower, apricot, jojoba, avocado, and that's not even half of them — so it leaves my skin feeling hydrated and looking less red and blotchy. At night, I love layering it over my face cream to really lock in the moisture (especially in the Winter months when the heater in my flat is on full blast), while after the shower I'll often slather some on my elbows, which are incredibly and embarrassingly dry.

Honest Beauty Cream Foundation

The Honest Beauty Cream Foundation [7] (£25) is one of makeup artist Daniel Martin's favourite foundations for dry skin [8] (Martin is not only an ambassador for the brand but he's also Alba's longtime makeup artist). Don't right this off, however, if your skin is on the oilier side or combination, as it can be used in many different ways. "I love the Cream Foundation because it doubles as a concealer and when used with a moisturiser, it can also be used like a liquid foundation," says Martin.

Honest Beauty Extreme Length Mascara + Primer

I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that the Honest Beauty Extreme Length Mascara + Primer [9] (£19) is probably the best clean mascara formula I've ever used. The fibre-based primer ensures your lashes look superlong, while the mascara formula is shiny and flexible, meaning it doesn't flake into your eyes halfway through the day — an issue I've had with many clean mascaras in the past.

Honest Beauty Crème Cheek Blush

I'm a sucker for a good cream blush, and the Honestly Beauty Crème Cheek Blush [10] (£16), which comes in four shades, is everything you want in a cream blush: It's blendable and has enough pigment to show up but not so much that you end up looking like a clown.
