01/06/2019 - 04:50 PM

The warm weather has finally arrived and Summer 2019 is already starting out hot for great makeup launches [1]. Your favourite brands have been saving their brightest, most fun launches for June and they are sure not to disappoint. From lightweight cream blush formulas that take seconds to apply [2] to neon-shadows that will draw you out of your comfort zone, there's so many great launches it might be hard to choose.

We consulted POPSUGAR staffers to find out what new makeup items have earned a permanent spot in their overstuffed makeup bags [3]. Check out our favourite picks, ahead.

RODIN Olio Lusso Aurora Luxury Illuminating Powder

"If you're looking for a Summer highlighter that offers a hint of bronze-y warmth, Rodin Olio Lusso Goddess Aurora Collection Illuminating Powder [4] ($50) is just the thing. It's a gel-like powder that feels incredibly silky, can be layered for extra colour payoff, and it works on all skin tones. I'm in love with the pretty packageing and 3D design, which were created by the artist Donald Drawbertson. Everything Rodin does is chic, but this is next level." –Dawn Davis, senior director, Native Editorial

Avon Magix Tint Brightening Tinted Moisturiser

"I generally prefer BB cream and tinted moisturiser to foundation because I don't like the feeling of something sitting on my skin. This is especially true in the Summer when I seem to spend 90 percent of my waking hours melting on a New York City subway platform. My current favourite something-but-nothing formula is Avon Magix Tint Brightening Tinted Moisturiser [5] ($12). It's lightweight, hydrating, loaded with antioxidants, and gives just the right amount of glow. The small tube makes it perfect for travel, and the fun logo update doesn't hurt either. Most importantly, it doesn't slide off my face in the heat." –DD

L'Occitane Fruity Lipstick

"I have a feeling this new L'Occitane Fruity Lipstick [6] ($20) is going to be my go-to for summer. It provides the perfect amount of buildable colour with a subtle shine that leaves your pout looking fresh. The formula is infused with cold-pressed pomegranate oil, carrot oil pomelo oil and vitamin E for deep hydration. Available in eight vibrant shades, Nude Infusion and Providence Sunset are by far my favourites because they're so wearable. When I'm looking for a barely-there look, I swipe this on." –Jessica Harrington, assistant editor, Makeup.com and Skincare.com

Anastasia Beverly Hills Shimmer Body Oil

"I'm all for anything that will help me fake a sun-kissed glow. While I usually find that most body oils are a little greasy, the new Anastasia Beverly Hills Shimmer Body Oil [7] ($38) is lightweight and instantly feels dry to the touch. The pearlescent reflective spray gives off just enough light to make you look golden (without overdoing it) while the coconut-vanilla scent makes me want to use it in place of perfume this Summer." –JH

Jouer Tan Lines Long-Wear Lip Topper

"Jouer is one of those brands that's like a trusty sidekick: I can always count of them to turn out products that look good and deliver. The new Tan Lines Collection is a fun launch for summer, and I've been sporting the new Duochrome High Pigment Pearl Lip Gloss [8] ($17) for a few weeks now. The duochrome effect creates a colour shift in the light, which looks awesome in photos, and the jojoba seed and coconut oil keep your lips looking glass-like and feeling smooth and buttery when you're wearing it. My favourite is Beach Daze, a magenta with a copper shift." — Kirbie Johnson, senior reporter and host

Dior Backstage Universal Face & Body Primer

"The Dior Backstage Collection takes the guess work out of makeup, which I can appreciate. Full of staples that novices and experts alike love, I've fallen in absolute lust with the Universal Face & Body Primer [9] ($36) — and frankly, primers are not my type, usually, but it won me over. The consistency reminds me a lot of my favourite skin care products: it's creamy, dries down nicely and mattifies without making my skin dry. It does contain silicone, but it melts into the skin instead of sitting on top like many silicone-based primers do. Plus it blurs your pores, help with redness, and it includes glycerin and shea butter to hydrate. I use it on my neck and decolletage as well to create all-over, even glow." — KJ

La Prairie Loose Powder Brush

"When it comes to brushes, I rarely believe you need to spend a small fortune on them, because there are so many that are affordable and work beautifully. Then I got my hands on the La Prairie Complexion Loose Powder Brush [10] ($135) and it's like I suffered from memory loss. Did I know a life with brushes before this? Okay, I'm being dramatic, but hear me out: the Complexion Brush is exquisite; I would pay someone to glide it across my face for an hour a day. The synthetic bristles are so velvety, it makes me think La Prairie should get into the pillowcase game — they're incredibly soft. You can use it with any powder you choose, but it does pair beautifully with the new Skin Caviar Loose Powder [11]." — KJ

Hourglass Unreal High Shine Volumizing Lip Gloss

"Even before people on my Instagram started freaking out over this lip gloss, I knew it was a crowd pleaser. Hourglass Unreal High Shine Volumizing Lip Gloss [12] ($30) is the brand's first 100% vegan formula, so yay! Hyaluronic acid helps plump up your natural lip shape, and the shimmer creates a light reflection that also gives you a faux-enhanced look. Do yourself a favour and pick up my favourite shade, Halo, is a clear gloss with gold shimmer that gives you that Kira Kira effect on your lips — it's unreal." –KJ

TrèStiQue Good Vibes Mascara

"I'm the first person to call out a beauty gimmick, but I will admit the TrèStiQue Good Vibes Mascara [13] ($25) had me intrigued. On one end, there's a bristle brush (my favourite kind of wand), while the other houses a mini, built-in lash curler. The good news is that, if you're not a fan of curlers — which, spoiler alert, I'm not — you don't even need to use the welcome addition because this mascara is freaking good on its own. I'm talking volume, length, AND curl. This passes the gimmick test." –Kelsey Castañon, senior beauty editor

Tarte Cosmetics x Jessiepaege Let it Rain-Bow Eye Set

"I'm not saying I've been on the hunt for the perfect pride palette for what feels like forever, but I'm not not saying that. This Tarte Cosmetics @Jessiepaege x Tarte Let it Rain-Bow Eye Set [14] ($24) has it all: all the literal colours of the rainbow, a great mascara, and the knowledge that it stands behind a charitable donation to the LGBTQ+ community. Win-win-win." –KC

Laura Mercier Caviar Intense Ink Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner

"Despite my admitted laziness on pretty much every other element in my beauty routine, not a day goes by that I don't layer on the liquid eyeliner. That means I've tried my share of formulas, and I'll admit: theLaura Mercier Caviar Intense Ink Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner [15] ($28) is one of the best. Not only does the inky pigment go on darker-than-dark, it also will not budge all day — no matter how sweaty you get." –KC

Huda Beauty Neon Obsessions Palette in Green

"Neon can be scary. Neon can also be freeing. That's what I learned after testing out the Huda Beauty Neon Obsessions Palette in Green [16] ($29), arguably the toughest of the brand's three Neon palettes to pull off. Admittedly, I thought I wouldn't be a huge fan of neon, but this palette's curated shades made it easy for me to throw a cohesive — and magical — eye look together." — Jesa Marie Calaor, assistant beauty editor

Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliners

"The Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliners [17] ($21) had been a staple in the transparent clutch I'd bring with me to concerts (the first time being back in 2011. I wore brought one to the super hot, super sweaty, New Jersey alternative rock festival, The Bamboozle Music Festival). It was perfect for concerts because once the glitter had set, it would not move. The newest shades of the sparkling eyeliners are just as impenetrable, my favourites being Goldmine, Volume, and Starfire. With the yellow-gold, bronze, and red glitters, I'll be painting sunsets on my lids all Summer." –JC

NYX Professional Makeup On The Rise Volume Liftscara

"I love that I can pile on the length and volume with the NYX Professional Makeup On The Rise Volume Liftscara [18] ($11) without it ever clumping. The formula is extremely dark black and held my curled lashes all day." –Sarah Siegel, assistant beauty editor

ColourPop Blush Stix

"In the Summer, I want my makeup to be fast, easy, and quick to blend if I use my fingers. The ColourPop Blush Stix [19] ($8) allows me to streamline my beauty routine and be out the door in minutes. I simply swipe the stick on my cheeks and melt it into my skin with the warmth of my fingers." –SS

Maybelline SuperStay Ink Crayon Lipstick

"I've long favoured lip crayons for their portability and easy application. Now I've found a new favourite in the Maybelline SuperStay Ink Crayon Lipstick [20] ($9), which glides on smoothly and promises to last eight hours. While I didn't time it, the "Stay Exceptional" mauve shade I chose didn't swear and lasted through an entire day of drinking and eating." –SS

Zoeva Graphic Lips "Eternal Brightness"

"I usually don't wear lip liner, but that's definitely about to change. The Zoeva Graphic Lips "Eternal Brightness" [21] ($12) lip liner is too good to be true. The dusty salmon shade blended perfectly with my natural lip colour, while also giving them a slightly pinker tone. Not to mention, it's waterproof and enriched with Vitamin C + E, so it's basically a Summer must-have." –Lauren Harano, editorial coordinator, Growth and Strategic Features
