The Best New Beauty Products Launching in the UK in June 2019

28/06/2019 - 02:55 PM

In recent years, the beauty industry has grown exponentially, with new launches, lines, and collaborations coming at us in rapid succession. Every casual scroll through your Instagram feed presents you with new beauty products being revealed (especially if you follow someone with the last name of Kardashian or Jenner); and let's not even get started with Facebook ads. So how do you keep track of all of the beauty newness going on? And more specifically, how do you know which items you can buy here in the UK (without paying exorbitant shipping fees, that is). Well, that's where we came in. We combed though the shelves of Space NK, Superdrug, Boots, and beyond to find the best new beauty launches of the month, rounding them up in one place to make it easy for you. Maybe you're in the market for something specific — like a new curl cream or the perfect daily moisturiser for the Summer — or maybe you just want to peruse the new innovations in skin care and makeup. Either way, here's an easy way to determine what's worth the splurge this month. Spoiler alert: the Isle of Paradise Blend It Balm and the Bumble and Bumble Surf Leave In Spray are definitely worth reading up on, but make sure to check out all the latest and greatest ahead.

Benefit Cosmetics Hello Happy Velvet Powder Foundation

One of two big foundation launches from Benefit this month (one liquid, one powder), the Benefit Cosmetics Hello Happy Velvet Powder Foundation [1] (£26) comes in 12 shades and promises semi-matte, medium coverage for up to twelve hours. Apply it with a brush for sheer layer of pigment (a brush comes tucked in the compact but you can use any brush you like) or dab it on with the enclosed sponge for medium-to-full coverage.

Benefit Cosmetics Hello Happy Flawless Brightening Foundation

The second of Benefit's two big launches, the Benefit Cosmetics Hello Happy Flawless Brightening Foundation [2] (£26), is a new liquid formula that offers more coverage than the original Hello Happy Soft Blur Foundation. Available in 12 shades (which we very much hope they'll expand in the future as 12 is definitely not enough to cover all skin tones), the formula also contains hyaluronic acid (for hydration) and something the brand describes as "photochromic pigments," which they say help ensure your skin looks bright and glowing no matter what lighting you're sitting under (yes, even the horrid yellow office lighting you're probably sitting under right now).

Laura Mercier Caviar Volume Panoramic Mascara

With some mascaras, the formula's great but the wand is hard to use, or the wand is fabulous but the formula flakes and smudges. The new Laura Mercier Caviar Volume Panoramic Mascara [3] (£22) is an example where both brush and formula are incredible. The formula is shiny, flexible, and doesn't leave behind little flecks under your eyes throughout the day, all while giving you long, thick, lush lashes. The brush, on the other hand, is twisted like a DNA helix, which makes it super easy to catch your lashes at the root and then roll the wand through them to really deposit each and every bit of pigment possible onto every lash.

Sisley Tinted Skin Care Stick SP 50+

This adorable little stick actually packs heavy-duty sun protection (SPF 50+ to be exact). The solid sunblock is super creamy with a sheer, beige tint, so it's ideal for people with skin tone in the fair to medium range to touch up their SPF whilst on the go. Swipe the Sisley Tinted Skin Care Stick SP 50+ [4] (£76) over your face, and then don't forget to go over those hard-to-reach, easy-to-forget spots like your hairline and the tops of your ears.

Tanologist Express Tan Self-Tan Mousse Extra Dark

The Tanologist Express Tan Self-Tan Mousse in Extra Dark [5] (£12) is not for the faint of fake tan. This product is meant for someone who loves their limbs to be a rich, glimmering shade of bronze no matter the time of year. The express formula is vegan, organic, and cruelty free, and develops over one-to-four hours so you won't have to wait long to start glowing from head-to-toe.

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Mousse

Revlon enters the liquid lipstick game with the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Mousse [6] (£9), which stands out from other liquid formulas thanks to its A) teddy bear soft, plushy texture and B) fruity, candy-like scent. The whipped, airy pigment dries down supermatte but without any of the cracking and flaking we're used to with liquid formulas.

Glossier Brow Flick

Since launching the incredibly popular Boy Brow [7], we've been patiently waiting for Glossier to expand their brow offerings. And starting June 12th, the wait is finally over. Introducing Glossier Brow Flick [8] (£15), a water-resistant, "microfine detailing pen" that comes in three shades — Blond, Brown, and Black (just like Boy Brow). The superfine brush tip is similar to that of a liquid eyeliner, while the formula is incredibly sheer, giving you the ability to to draw on thin, hair-like strokes. Use it to fill in sparse patches , add definition and shape, or achieve a micro-bladed effect. Then, when you're done, you can set it with Boy Brow to get a truly perfect set of arches.

Darphin Intral De-Puffing Antioxidant Eye Cream

Packed with free radial-fighting antioxidants, the Darphin Intral Eye Cream [9] (£40) doesn't just add moisture and bring down puffiness, but it also protects the delicate skin around your eyes from wrinkle-causing/complexion-dulling pollution.

Christophe Robin Hydrating Melting Mask With Aloe Vera

When it comes to the ingredients in the new Christophe Robin Hydrating Melting Mask with Aloe Vera [10] (£27), amino-acid packed-aloe vera both hydrates and helps strengthen damaged hair, while flaxseed oil, which is rich in fatty acids, adds elasticity and coats strands in a moisture-retaining protective layer. Apply the mask to wet hair, wait for a few minutes, and when you rinse it out, you'll be left with shinier, bouncier, softer hair.

Christian Louboutin Rouge Velvet Matte Lip Colour

Consider these the bougiest lipsticks you may ever own. This month, the brand's added six new red-based shades (Jackie, Justine, Goyetta, Dramadouce, and Triluna) to their incredibly pigmented, plush-as-velvet Christian Louboutin Rouge Velvet Matte Lip Colour [11] collection (£70 each). The dense bullet glides over your lips in seconds, and leaves behind a stamp of intense colour that stays for hours.

Penhaligon's Cairo eau de parfum

Inspired by the Egyptian capital, the best way to describe this heady, mysterious eau — a Harrod's exclusive — is aromatic liquid gold. Penhaligon's Cairo [12] (£173) is the fifth scent in the brand's Trade Routes collection.

Bumble and Bumble Surf Styling Leave In

Inspired by its iconic Surf Spray, the Bumble and Bumble Surf Styling Leave In [13] (£23) promises give you the same beachy waves minus the matte, dry texture. Ideal for people with straight-to-slightly wavy hair textures, the gel-cream contains conditioning ingredients like aloe leaf and coconut extract that work to smooth frizz as your hair air dries. Work it through towel-dried hair and once it dries, you'll be left with soft, silky bends that you've only ever seen after a day at the ocean.

Tan-Luxe Wonder Oil

It's a fake tan, in oil form, and it's freakin' amazing because not only does it leave you with a golden glow, but it also keeps your skin superhydrated. Tan-Luxe Wonder Oil [14] contains a blend of six different nourishing oils including jojoba, argan, and raspberry seed, and comes in a mess-free over-sized roller ball that you simply skim over your limbs without any goop or greasiness.

Isle of Paradise Blend It Multipurpose Self-Tan Blender

With its color-correcting fake-tan sprays, Isle of Paradise definitely thinks outside of the box when it comes to its products. And they've done it once again with the Isle of Paradise Blend It Multipurpose Self-Tan Blender [15] (£15), a clear balm that allows you to touch up your fake tan, whether that's spot-treating an area you missed or blurring away any tanning mishaps, like pesky marks or lines left around wrists and elbows. The clear, gradual fake balm contains DHA, as well as nourishing coconut oil, chia seed, and avocado extract. All you have to do is smooth the stick over the area you want to touch up and blend the edges of the product with your fingers (so make sure to wash your hands after!), and you're on your way to a seamless golden glow in seconds.

Too Faced Damn Girl Mascara

Too Faced cofounder Jerrod Blandino has some lofty beauty goals. First, he created a mascara that was so good, he deemed it Better Than Sex. (And while the jury's still out if that's truly the case, you can't deny that the mascara is really, really good.) Six years later, he wanted to one up himself with a new mascara that would make you and all your friends say, "Damn, Girl," hence the name of this brand-new lash enhancer that hit shelves this month [16]. The Too Faced Damn Girl Mascara [17] (£22) is like Better Than Sex times a thousand, adding even more volume, more length, and more drama thanks to a patent-pending formula that contains two different pigments and superflexible polymers, along with a genius, hourglass-shaped brush that catches every itty-bitty lash.

Color Wow Dream Filter Preshampoo Mineral Remover

Color Wow continues to innovate in the haircare space with its newest launch: a preshampoo treatment spray that promises to remove the mineral build-up that tap water can leave behind in your hair. Created specifically for people with blonde, grey, and white-coloured hair, the Color Wow Dream Filter Preshampoo Mineral Remover [18] (£24) goes on dry hair before you shampoo. Once it hits your hair, the formula acts like a magnet, latching onto minerals like calcium, copper, iron, and magnesium particles that are dulling and staining your strands. The Dream Filter then whisks those minerals away when you shampoo, leaving your colour looking lighter and brighter than before — and letting you put off your salon appointment by a few more weeks.

Dove Deodorant Apple & White Tea

The brand's moisturising antiperspirant spray now comes in a crisp, fruity scent to help you feel fresh all Summer long. Better yet? You can nab the Dove Apple & White Tea Deodorant [19] (£2) for less than five pounds at your local Superdrug or Boots.

La Prairie Super Balm Cleanser

Washing your makeup off at time will be transformed into a luxurious, spa-like experience with this indulgent, deep-cleansing balm. The balm transforms into a rich oil as you massage it over your face, then just add water and wipe it all away with a muslin cloth. It comes with a steep price tag, but after using the La Prairie Super Balm Cleanser [20] (£117), you'll realise your skin looks and feels like a million pounds.

VO5 Flexible Hold Hairspray

Not only is VO5 the official hair sponsor for Love Island [21] this summer, but it also just dropped a new light-hold hairspray. The VO5 Flexible Hold Hairspray [22] (£4) leaves waves soft, updos secure, and features a juicy, tropical scent that will instantly transport you to Casa Amor.

Alteya Pure Bulgarian Rose Water

You often hear about "Bulgarian rose" being used in perfume and skin care from brands all over the world. What makes this refreshing rose water face mist special is that it doesn't only contain Bulgarian rose (which, historically, has been thought to have healing properties), but it's made by a Bulgarian organic beauty brand, so you know it's legit. Spritz the Alteya Pure Bulgarian Rose Water [23] (£8) over your face to prime your skin for makeup or use it as the first step in your skin-care routine. Or, simply mist it any time of the day that you feel like your skin needs a bit of a hydration pick-me-up.

Jo Malone London City Edition Candle

Jo Malone London is expanding its home scents category by giving its classic candles a fresh new look. The City Editions collection features eight of Jo Malone's signature candles, each one printed with an illustration inspired by either New York, Paris, Tokyo, Dubai, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Seoul, and London. We're of course partial to the London Edition Candle [24] (£52), which features the dark, woody, and slightly mysterious pomegranate noir scent.

Lancer Retinoid Powered Magnetic Facial

Dr. Harold Lancer is one of Hollywood's favourite dermatologists, and this month he adds a magnetic mask to his skincare line, the Lancer Retinoid Powered Magnetic Facial [25] (£210). Spiked with line-reducing vitamin A, the charcoal-coloured formula helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and age spots, and comes off easily (and we have to say, quite satisfyingly) with the magnetic "wand" that you run over your face after wearing the mask for five to 10 minutes.

Tresemmé Botanique Air Dry Curl Crème

A blend of coconut oil, silicone, and glycerin in this leave in curl cream aims to keep curls and kinks soft, springy, and defined — no heat or diffusers required. All you need is a few pumps (the exact amount will depend on hair thickness, curl pattern, and length) of the Tresemmé Botanique Air Dry Curl Crème [26] (£6) scrunched in from root to tip and your spirals will stay shiny and bouncy all day long.

Eos Organic Watermint Lip Balm

Made with natural ingredients and free of mineral oil and parabens, everyone's favourite globe-shaped lip balm now comes in a refreshing new flavour that brings together the sweetness of watermelon and the icy freshness of peppermint. Not only that, the Eos Organic Watermint Lip Balm [27] (£6.50) contains hydrating and soothing ingredients like vitamin E, shea butter, and oils like sunflower seed, coconut, and jojoba to leave lips smooth and superhydrated.

Dermalogica Clear Start Mattifying Moisturiser SPF 30

This hard-working day cream was made with the Summer months in mind: it's hydrating, noncomedogenic (meaning it won't clog your pores), mattifying (so you won't end up looking shiny), and it contains SPF 30. Our assistant editor, Tori Crowther, has been slathering it on for weeks now and is hooked. The Dermalogica Clearing Defense SPF 30 [28] (£22.50) has helped keep my skin clear from congestion during the rare, hot days in London, whilst also keeping it protected from the sun. The scent is light and not overpowering, and in the spots I produce a lot of oil, it keeps them looking matte."
