The Best New Beauty Products Launching in the UK in September 2019

24/09/2019 - 03:40 PM

In recent years, the beauty industry has grown exponentially, with new launches, lines, and collaborations coming at us in rapid succession. Every casual scroll through your Instagram feed presents you with new beauty products being revealed (especially if you follow someone with the last name of Kardashian [1] or Jenner [2]), and let's not even get started with Facebook ads. So how do you keep track of all of the beauty newness going on? And more specifically, how do you know which items you can buy here in the UK (without paying exorbitant shipping fees, that is)? Well, that's where we come in.

We combed though the digital shelves of Space NK, Cult Beauty [3], Superdrug [4], Boots, and beyond to find the best new beauty launches of the month, rounding them up in one place to make it easy for you. Maybe you're in the market for something specific — like a new foundation or Autumn fragrance [5] — or maybe you just want to peruse the new innovations in skin care and makeup. Either way, here's an easy way to determine what's worth the splurge this month. When it comes to beauty products launching in September, there's lots of excitement — new scents from Bond No.9 and Byredo, and new foundations from nearly every major brand (M.A.C., Burberry, Chanel, Zoeva) are just a few beauty goodies you'll discover if you keep reading.

Pat McGrath Labs Mothership VI: Midnight Sun Eye Palette

The Pat McGrath Labs Mothership VI: Midnight Sun Eye Palette [6] (£115) dropped just in time to make our Autumnal makeup dreams come true. The 10-shade eye shadow palette includes three matte hues, one shimmer, one glitter, one metallic, a highlighter shade, two of McGrath's "blitz chrome" formulas (which are pearlecent powders also flecked with glitter), and one of her mesmerising Astral Light powders (this one is a beige-platinum shade that creates a glass-like sheen on skin).

All the colours in this warm-toned palette are gorgeous, but we especially can't wait to break out Blood Moon 005, a radiant rosy-copper hue with an intensely metallic finish; Bronze Eclipse, the smoothest, creamiest, most-perfect bronze powder shadow you've ever seen; and Wicked Envy, a shimmery moss green shade that has just the right amount of gold in it to make it look incredibly sexy.

The Pat McGrath Labs Mothership VI: Midnight Sun Eye Palette will also be available on Selfridges.com starting 13 Sept

Ouai Super Dry Shampoo

It took two years for hairstylist Jen Atkin to develop her latest product, the Ouai Super Dry Shampoo [7] (£20). And if you're someone who has a particularly oily scalp, we're gonna wager it was worth the wait.

Made specifically for people with fine-to-medium hair textures who either have greasy roots or are extremely active, this stuff is more powerful than Atkin's first dry shampoo, using both rice starch and volcanic minerals to sop up excess oil and add volume to hair that gets weighed down easily. If you're someone who doesn't like overly-fragranced hair products, we'd suggest you pass on this, but if you like your stylers to smell good, well Super Dry Shampoo smells freakin' amazing since Atkin infused it with her fan-favourite eau de parfum, Melrose Place [8].

Byredo Slow Dance Eau De Parfum

Remember your first slow dance? It was exciting but awkward. Innocent yet intimate. Well, those feelings are meant to be evoked by Byredo Slow Dance [9] (£110), the brand's newest perfume that's a little spicy, a tad sweet, and incredibly intoxicating. At the top is sweet myrrh, which smells warm and honey-like. The heart includes heady labdanum (which replicates the smell of ambergris), sparkly geranium, and powdery violet, while the base of vanilla and patchouli add a sensual, gourmand quality to the overall eau.

Zoeva Authentik Skin Natural Luminous Foundation

Zoeva Authentik Skin Natural Luminous Foundation [10] (£25) is a medium-coverage foundation that comes in 44 shades with a variety of warm, cool, and neutral undertone options. While the name says "luminous", this formula is actually meant to give you more of a natural finish. Instead of covering your face like a mask, the Authentik Skin Foundation let's your skin natural radiance come through — although, if you have dry skin you'll notice that it does impart a bit of a glow says beauty editor Tori Crowther. "It's dewy and feels really nice on my skin without feeling greasy or looking shiny," she says.

And while this has nothing to do with the formula or how it wears, we love the fact that instead of naming the shades after foods and spices, the brand chose words like Kind, Brave, Creative, and Magical to describe the different tones.

Nars High-Pigment Longwear Eyeliner

Nars is having a busy 2019. Not even a month after the brand debuted its brand-new, 72-piece lipstick collection [11], it's dropping a new-and-improved eyeliner pencil formula. The Nars High-Pigment Longwear Eyeliner [12] (£19) features a gel-like texture and comes in 16 shades including classics hues like Via Veneto (a matte black) and Night Porter (a black with pearl), as well as new additions like Rue Bonaparte (an eye-brightening beige), Ocean Drive (a bright cobalt), and Mulholland Drive, which is the most perfect everyday bronze hue we'll wear all year long.

Chanel Ultra Le Teint Velvet

The Chanel Ultra Le Teint Velvet [13] (£37) isn't entirely new. It's actually the brand's Perfection Lumière Velvet foundation in new packaging and in six new shades, bringing the total up to 15 (which we hope they expand upon even more in the future). Everything about this foundation formula is light — the the texture, the subtle velvet-matte finish — making it look almost imperceptible on skin while still managing to cover up any spots or discolouration.

Avon Anew Anti-Wrinkle Plumping Concentrate

This intensely moisturising serum is just what the doctor ordered for cooler, drier Autumnal months. Hyaluronic acid is the gold-standard ingredient for hydration amongst consultant dermatologists, and the Avon Anew Anti-Wrinkle Plumping Concentrate [14] (£12, originally £15) contains three different versions of the stuff. More specifically, it contains three different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, which allows for increased hydration both on the epidermis (the surface of your skin) and the dermis (the layer underneath the surface).

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Take Palette of Pops

Charlotte Tilbury has taken her best-selling Pillow Talk eye shadow palette and amped up the intensity with the new Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Take Palette of Pops (£42). While the original palette includes one shimmery hue and three satin ones, this new iteration includes four glittery and glossy shades including a shimmery pale rosy pink (Prime), a sparkly medium-pink hue with a gold shift (Enhance), a copper-rose shade(Smoke), and a bronze shadow that's so shiny, it practically looks like a liquid formula when smoothed over lids (Pop).

The Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Take Palette of Pops launches 26th September 2019 at charlottetilbury.com.

Bond No. 9 Gold Coast Eau de Parfum

Housed in a gorgeous rose-gold bottle, Bond No. 9 Gold Coast is a great scent option for the Autumn months. Its breezy and sparkly, thanks to fresh, juicy notes of lychee, apricot, red apple, and watermelon (so it won't feel overpowering), but it's also rich and beautifully floral, with the addition of rose extract and a base of cedarwood, vanilla, and musk.

MZ Skin Vitamin-Infused Facial Treatment Mask

Dr. Maryam Zamani's newest addition to her lxururious skin-care line is a sheet mask that looks a bit terrifying, but we promise will do wonders for your complexion. Launching just in time for the return to school and London Fashion Week, the MZ Skin Vitamin-Infused Facial Treatment Mask (£90 for 5 pack) is meant to pamper stressed out skin thanks licorice extract, which is an anti-inflammatory, and aloe leaf and menthyl lanctate, which both have a soothing and cooling effect on the skin. But this hard-working treatment doesn't stop there. It also infuses the skin with moisture (that would be the aloe as well as hyaluronic acid) and helps reduce dark spots with the addition of vitamin C.

MZ Skin Vitamin-Infused Facial Treatment Mask launches on 8 Sept. 2019 on mzskin.com [15]

Iconic London Seamless Concealer

It appears September is all about that base (sorry, had to), with yet another brand launching a new selection of complexion perfecters. The Iconic London Seamless Concealer [16] (£22) comes in 12 shades and packaged in a decently large tube, meaning that it's sure to last you a while. The creamy texture makes it great for using underneath your eyes to hide dark circles but because it's so pigmented, it's also great for covering spots and splotchiness, too.

Nars Audacious Fragrance

The Nars Audacious Fragrance might be founder and creative director François Nars' first-ever perfume (created in partnership with perfumer Olivia Giacobetti), but he's no stranger to creating products with beautiful scents. His Monoï Body Glow products [17] smell like a tropical dream that you want to slather all over yourself with abandon.

The dark and mysterious-looking Audacious bottle hint at the dark and mysterious juice inside, which is a mingling or light, exotic florals (white frangipani, tiare flower, ylang ylang) and heady, sensual notes (incense, sandalwood, white cedar, and musk).

The Nars Audacious Fragrance (£125) is currently available at Harrods and NARS boutiques and on narscosmetics.co.uk [18] on 15 Sept 2019

Yves Saint Laurent Beauté Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Sheer Matte lipstick

A sheer matte may sound like an oxymoron, but on the lips, it looks incredibly beautiful (and feels incredibly comfortable, too). Inspired by the original YSL Beauté Rouge Pur Couture The Slim lipstick [19], the new addition to the Rouge Pur Couture family is semi-sheer but with a matte finish, a combination that creates an soft-focus, airbrushed effect without having to deal with the hassle of blotting down or blurring the pigment.

The YSL Beauté Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Sheer Matte lipsticks are available starting 18 Sept 2019

Too Faced Palm Springs Dream Eye Shadow Palette

Inspired by sunny Palm Springs, California and "cocktail colours", the Too Faced Palm Springs Dream Eye Shadow Palette [20] (£35) is bursting with bright hues and sparkly finishes. We'll take the shade Dirty Martini, straight up, all over our lids with lots and lots of mascara, please.

Jo Malone London Poppy & Barley Cologne

Jo Malone London's newest scent, Poppy & Barley, is basically the English countryside gathered up and packed into a chic glass bottle. Per the name, the key notes in Jo Malone Poppy & Barley Cologne [21] (£98) are poppies and wheat grains, with rose, violet, and blackcurrant thrown into the mix to both soften and sweeten things up a bit.

Sleek Makeup Say It Loud Lipsticks

At just £6, you can freshen up your Autumn makeup bag with one (or two, or four) of the Sleek Makeup Say It Loud Lipsticks [22] (£6), available in 10 shades including seasonally-appropriate Claret-red (No Diggity) and chestnut brown (No Scrubs), as well as bright and in-your-face hues like violet (Bootylicious) and orange-red (Gin & Juice, shown here).

Toppik Coloured Hair Thickener

The Toppik Coloured Hair Thickener [23] (£19)is a tinted hair spray that can help solve a variety of hair woes, whether that's concealing your roots when you can't make it to the salon right away, adding some volume to limp strands, or concealing areas of thinning hair if that's something you wish to conceal. The spray comes in four shades (Light Brown, Medium Brown, Dark Brown, and Black) and is not only water resistant (so you don't need to worry about getting caught in the rain), but it also promises to not rub off on your clothes or bed sheets.

Algenist Elevate Firming and Lifting Neck Cream

With the new Algenist Elevate Firming and Lifting Neck Cream [24] (£78), the brand applies their patented alguronic acid — an ingredient made from sustainably-produced algae extract — to the (very) delicate neck and décolleté area. Meant to be applied twice a day, morning and night, the formula promises to smooth, firm, hydrate, and help reduce the appearance of crepey-looking skin.

M.A.C. Studio Fix Soft Matte Foundation Stick

On Sept. 5, M.A.C. expands its Studio Fix range (which already includes a fluid foundation, powder, and concealer) with the M.A.C. Studio Fix Soft Matte Foundation Stick [25] (£27). Perfect for touching up on the go or taking with you on holiday, its great paired with the other complexion products in the collection, or simply worn on its own. Available in 33 shades, you can use it to spot treat like a concealer, or spread over large areas of your face like a foundation. And the best part is, the cream consistency and velvety texture allows you to manipulate it easily, blending it down to a sheer lightweight finish or layering it for more opaque coverage.

Aromatherapy Associates Deep Relax Sleep Mist

Spray your pillow and bed sheets with the Aromatherapy Associates Deep Relax Sleep Mist [26] (£28)— which features a calming and soothing blend of vetiver, sandalwood, and chamomile — and you'll find yourself feeling instantly relaxed and dosing off in no time.

Nuxe Melting Honey Body Oil Balm

If the new Nuxe Melting Honey Body Oil Balm [27] (£22.50) is anything like the French brand's famous Rêve de Miel lip balm, then your dry elbows and knees are in for a real treat this Autumn and Winter.

Burberry Matte Glow Liquid Foundation

Just like the YSL Beauté lipstick above, the Burberry Matte Glow Liquid Foundation [28] (£35) sounds like a beauty contradiction. "Matte" and "glow" seem to go together like water and oil, but unbelievably, this base formula seems to do both. It minimises shine and makes skin look velvety soft, but without being too opaque or powdery. Your skin just looks like, well, skin, albeit more radiant and flawless looking (if that's what you're after).

Slip Pink Marble Pillowcase

Slip's silk pillowcases and sleep masks are beloved by beauty editors all over the world because, not only do the look chic, they also help reduce friction while you sleep, keeping your hair from getting frizzy and your skin getting pulled and creased while you sleep. For Fall, the brand has added a new pink marble print to the range. Use the Slip Pink Marble Pillowcase [29] (£85) at home, or bring it with you whenever you travel to pull over the hotel pillows.

By Terry Hyaluronic Tinted Hydra-Powders

Available in eight shades, the new By Terry Hyaluronic Tinted Hydra Powders [30] (£42) basically do everything but the laundry. It sets your makeup, mattifies your T-zone, and blurs away pores and fine lines thanks to ingredients like silica pearls and hyaluronic acid. And depending on what brush you use, it can also double as a foundation, contouring, and/or bronzing powder.

Malin + Goetz Leather Eau de Parfum

Autumn is the perfect time to break out your (faux) leather jacket — and try out the new Malin + Goetz Leather Eau de Parfum [30] (£75). The fragrance doesn't smell exactly like leather (and we wouldn't want it to, to be honest), but rather evokes warmth and cosiness — think a wood-fire burning, a glass of red wine, a cottage in the country — with notes of lotus flower, pepper, close, orchid, green violet, leather, cedarwood, and sandalwood.

& Other Stories Avant Garde Hand Soap

For Autumn, & Other Stories adds a new scent to their bath and body range called "Avant-Garde Air." The fragrance is fruity but warm, mixing together notes of mandarin, peach, pear, brown sugar, and vanilla cream — a list that makes our mouths water just typing it. You can experience the new scent in a body wash, body lotion, hand lotion, body scrub, body mist, eau de toilette, and & Other Stories Avant Garde Hand Soap (£5) (shown here), which we'll be buying to dress up both our kitchen and bathroom sinks for the new season.

The & Other Stories Avant Garde collection launches September 2019.
