Best Skincare Products Spring 2019

These 17 New Skincare Launches Are Killer — and You're Going To Want Them All

As POPSUGAR editors, we independently select and write about stuff we love and think you'll like too. If you buy a product we have recommended, we may receive affiliate commission, which in turn supports our work.

We don't endorse all of Patrick Bateman's proclivities, but the man sure was ahead of his time when it came to skin care. Like many people today, he was dead-set on getting his routine right. (Pre-murder face mask, anyone? How about some ice to help you depuff you from your sins?)

Since the 2000s, however, the beauty landscape has changed, and there are loads of new skincare innovations dropping this Spring that could make even a textbook narcissist and — err, fictional — psychopath feel some things.

Ahead, we asked POPSUGAR editors to share the best new face creams, serums, and skin treatments hitting shelves this month. Be forewarned: they're pretty killer.

Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer

"On the heels of the Kush launches of 2018, Milk has launched the Hydro Grip Primer ($30). Unlike silicone or oil-based primers, I love that you don't have to worry about ruining your skincare buzz when applying this one — it seems that because of my extensive skin regimen, my primer always seems to pill and roll on the skin, which is typically why I avoid them. Also, almost every professional makeup artist I know nixes primers because they say that if you moisturise properly, you don't need one. With Hydro Grip, it feels like an additional step in my routine and not the first step in my makeup application, ya dig? There is a technique to apply it, though. Put it on the back of your hand and then blend it onto your face using your fingers or a makeup brush. Let it sit for a minute so it fully absorbs and then get to applying that makeup. My makeup didn't crease around my nose or under my eyes, it lasted on 12-hour set day, and the primer looks amazing alone — it gives you a glass skin finish." — Kirbie Johnson, host and senior reporter

Tatcha the Dewy Skin Cream

"I've been told by — oh, I don't know — 900+ people that I'm always drawn to the purple object in the room. This is true (and I blame my Alma Mater for that) but the Tatcha the Dewy Skin Cream ($68) sparks joy in a way lavender throw pillows or the aubergine emoji just can't. The formula is packed with antioxidant-rich Japanese purple rice bran, skin-softening algae, and hydrating amino acids — all of which are just a fancy way of saying it's really, really moisturising. And let's be real: that's my actual favourite colour." — Kelsey Castañon, senior beauty editor

Peace Out Microneedling Brightening Dots

"The little stickers of Peace Out Microneedling Brightening Dots ($28) are the hyperpigmentation version of acne-healing patches. Each one is designed to brighten up dark spots left over from zits, and delivers brightening ingredients like licorice extract, niacinamide, and tranexamic acid to the skin. Just like acne patches, these have become an essential in my skin care arsenal for repairing my complexion overnight." — Sarah Siegel, assistant beauty editor

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist

"Not only is it primo shelfie material — the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist ($28)'s minimalist, millennial pink exterior adds a pop of colour to any skin care collection — it's also packed with skin improving ingredients such as apple cider vinegar (a gentle exfoliator), hyaluronic acid (a powerful hydrator), and antioxidants. The liquid, after being spritzed as a superfine mist that feels completely weightless, also creates the perfect canvas for seamless makeup application." — Jesa Marie Calaor, assistant beauty editor

"This pretty little pink Bliss Hydration Salvation Facial Oil ($22) came into my life recently and the timing couldn't have been better. IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Face & Neck Citrine Roller

"Sometimes, it just feels nice to glide a really cool (both figuratively and literally) device up and down your face, but has a facial roller ever 'sparked joy?' Before the IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Face & Neck Citrine Roller ($28), my answer would be no. But the brand's founder Jamie Kern Lima says this one, which features citrine (as opposed to other more common stones, like rose quartz), inspires positivity — and I'll take that wherever I can get it." — KC

Kayo Better Body Detox Mask To Scrub

"Meeting Kayo Body creator Christine Bullock was divine intervention. I had been wanting to change my lifestyle for a while after feeling lethargic and burnt out. I didn't realise that during our meeting that she'd be giving me a personal consultation to help with my sweet tooth and workout regimen. It was the time and effort she took to help me that made me believe she truly cares about other people. I went home to test out the Kayo Better Body Detox Mask to Scrub ($54), and unlike other body masks, this one didn't rinse off immediately while in the shower. The thicker consistency kept it on my body for the suggested five minutes and was easily removed with circular motions, revealing brighter, even-toned skin." — KJ

Pixi In-Shower Steam Facial

"The Pixi In-Shower Steam Facial ($22) has become a daily treat while I let my conditioner soak in my hair. The gel-like mask is packed with collagen and peptides, and creates a warming sensation as you rub it into your skin and it transforms into an oil. When I emerge from the shower, my skin looks plump, smooth like I just stepped out of a sauna." — SS

Urban Skin Rx Purifying 2-in-1 Pumpkin Pore Detox Mask and Scrub

"First things first, the Urban Skin Rx Purifying 2-in-1 Pumpkin Pore Detox Mask and Scrub ($18) smells amazing — it's basically Fall season in a bottle, without being overwhelming. The mask is also self-warming, so once you apply you'll start to feel it heat up on your skin. The sensation isn't uncomfortable (in fact, it feels spa-like) and fades after a minute or two. I tend to leave it on for the recommended 15 minutes before washing it away and afterward my skin looks and feels glowy and smooth." — Tembe Denton-Hurst, associate editor, Makeup.com

But it is the one thing you can do now to help you feel sexy later, and the Estée Lauder Perfectionist Pro Multi-Defence UV Fluid SPF 45 ($45) feels like nothing on the skin, and actually hydrates better than most primers, which makes it perfect pre-makeup." — KC

Lord Jones High CBD Formula Body Oil

"Lord Jones helped me understand how deceitful the CBD industry can be. My biggest takeaway: brands are incorporating ingredients like hemp-seed and cannabis sativa seed oil to capitalize on the buzzy ingredient, but it should be known that both of those ingredients do not have the same properties CBD does. (Anything made from the seed of the cannabis plant won't, as CBD is made from the plant itself.) The education behind the products makes me confident in them, even if the effectiveness of CBD is still largely unproven, with the exception of helping with epilepsy. The new High Formula CBD Body Oil ($75) at the very least includes moisturising ingredients like jojoba, avocado and safflower oil, and leaves the skin glowing without feeling greasy. Each bottle contains 100ML of CBD." — KJ

Renée Rouleau Phytolipid Comfort Creme

"Besides the fact that esthetician Renée Rouleau is one of my nicest people on the planet, she also knows my high-maintenance skin like the back of her hand, so I trusted her completely when she recommended her Phytolipid Comfort Creme ($62). No surprise, she was right: the creamy, luxe formula coddles my supersensitive, reactive, dehydrated skin like big baby it is. She recommended I use it three times a week — but it feels so good, I might just make it an everyday thing." — KC

Lubriderm Tattoo Daily Care Lotion

"In respect to full transparency, Lubriderm's existing unscented lotion was already a big favourite — for both the public at large and in my household — but the brand recently introduced a new version for the inked, called Tattoo Daily Care Lotion ($TK). It's essentially the same formula you know and love, but with fancy AF packageing that says, 'We get you,' to all the tattooed people in the world." — KC

NuFACE Fix Line Smoothing Device Kit

"NuFace changed the game with the brand's array of microcurrent facial devices, but the newest launch, NuFace Fix Line Smoothing Device Kit ($149), is going to make microcurrent a daily part of your routine. Touted as a line smoothing device, I've been testing this tool since November and keep it with me in my purse now. (Serious about skin care or seriously crazy? You decide.) It firms, smooths and tightens lines around the eyes. your lips and forehead but looks discreet — it could be a lip gloss for all anyone knows. (Until you start using it, of course.) It works within three minutes to help give your brow a subtle lift or to smooth out any fine lines you might see. The key is to use it with the accompanying serum, which is ionic itself. You can use it alone or with the device — regardless, you'll see firmer, more lifted results." — KJ

Glamglow Eyeboost Reviving Eye Mask

"Whether you're looking to hide the evidence of a long night, or just want a mask that will instantly calm you down, Glamglow Eyeboost Reviving Eye Mask, which extends passed the under eyes and wraps all the way around the entire eye, hydrates skin while the the cooling effect helps to bring down any unwanted puffiness. Shut your eyes, let it do its magic, and say, ahh." — JC

Dermalogica Redness Relief Essence

"Dermalogica Redness Relief Essence ($42) stays true to it's name in that the liquid deeply penetrates the skin — hence it being called an essence — to keep skin from looking ruddy or inflamed. The consistency does have a serum-like look to it because it's not overly runny like many other products in the category. Ingredients like licorice root extract soothes skin while piperonyl glucoside helps reduce redness. Because it's able to penetrate deeper than redness relief creams, you'll see the results quicker." — KJ
