Bright lips are a seemingly never-ending trend. During the recession, sales of designer lipstick actually rose, as we ditched the pricey handbags for a more frugal but equally statement-making high-end treat. But not everyone is happy with a permanent hot-pink or cherry-red pout, and that doesn't mean they should miss out on a luxurious lip. Those fearful of bright hues should try Burberry Lip Glow Balm (£23), which has the same pretty embossed gunmetal tube as the brand's lipstick but contains a softer, more moisturising formula that adds just a touch of juicy colour. The tint is definitely there, but the look is "just bitten a cherry" rather than a full-on glossy pout. It's the kind of low-maintenance product that makes a noticeable difference to your overall look, but it can be applied straight out the tube without the need for a mirror. For lazy girls, it's a no-brainer, and you'll never be ashamed of pulling it out for a quick touch-up. It's currently available in three shades; the raspberry tones Pink Azalea is our favourite.
