For a week in May, the world's most famous models and celebrities make their way to the South of France for the Cannes Film Festival [1]. And if you thought the Oscars were glamorous [2], just wait until you see the hair and makeup from Cannes.

This year was all about the red lip: Elle Fanning, Selena Gomez [3], and K-Pop star Jessica Jung all wore the bright crimson hue, making for a striking first day of red carpet looks. The hair was equally elegant with chignons, twisted updos, and Hollywood waves.
