Chrissy Teigen Reveals What She Really Thinks of Luna’s Makeup Obsession

24/10/2018 - 10:06 PM

You would think that high-profile model, New York Times bestselling author [1], and everyone's favourite Twitter presence Chrissy Teigen [2] would have a super-detailed beauty and skincare routine, right? Not the case, she told us at SEPHORiA: House of Beauty in Los Angeles, Sephora's first foray into the experiential beauty festival space.

Read on to see what Teigen said is her biggest (and most relatable) beauty mistake, her no-frills nighttime routine, and what she really thinks of her daughter Luna's makeup obsession.

How John Legend Influenced Chrissy Teigen's Brow Shape

POPSUGAR: What is your biggest beauty regret?

Chrissy Teigen: I, like a lot of people, really didn't like full eyebrows at one point. I remember just totally taking almost all of them off. I was so into a super high arch, and they were so thin, and I can't believe to this day that they ever came back, honestly. My edges don't grow anymore — I don't have a tail on my eyebrows anymore. My dad always told me, "You have Brooke Shields [3] brows. Stop plucking them!" And even when I first met John [4], I remember him mentioning how he loved a thick brow, and I was like, "Oh. Okay."

How She Works Around Her Biggest Insecurity

PS: Do you have any beauty insecurities, and what do you do to combat them?

CT: I'm a little self-conscious of my under-chin area. When I got pregnant, I gained 60-some pounds, and little Miles was only like 4 pounds of it. Because my face is so round, I try to make sure I do a nice bronze-y contour that doesn't look too in your face. But I like to bring out dimension in my face and under my chin.

The Strangest Thing She's Done For Beauty

PS: What's the weirdest beauty treatment you've ever done?

CT: I thought the PRP blood facial [5] — the vampire facial [6] — was crazy, and then I did it. Still to this day, I don't have any idea what it does, aside from that it hurt so much. Because I was breastfeeding, I couldn't use lidocaine. So my doctor was like, "I haven't seen many people try this without the lidocaine." I said, "Let's try it." Oh, and they do a pass along your mustache of this needle roller. The face hurt for sure. I was like, "I can't believe I'm doing this."

I mean, I've come too far with this face and this butt that if anybody sees me changing anything, I'm going to get called out immediately. I'm probably going to avoid any kind of fat transferring. I follow all those accounts of the before and afters, and I'm like, "I can't just show up to work with a butt one day." Everyone's going to be like, "We know what you did!" I've come too far now — I should've done it 10 years ago!

What She REALLY Thinks About Luna Wearing Makeup

PS: What are your thoughts on Luna wearing makeup?

CT: She loves lip gloss! I mean, I look at her and I'm like, "You're the most perfect little thing on the planet. You have beautiful skin. You have beautiful features." I think all of our parents tell us that, and then we all go off and want to experiment and try fun things. I'm okay with that. You just try not to make beauty such an important thing in their lives, but it can be a fun thing to do.

We love doing makeup together in the morning, and it's all over her face, and I let her do my makeup and we do our dolls. We paint their nails. She loves doing really girly things like that, and it's more about the bonding time with her than it is like, "This is for beauty." It's just fun for us to do together. You want her to appreciate her ethnic features and her beautiful hair. You want her to really, really love everything about herself.
