First off, find a stylist who knows the importance of dry cutting. "Stay away from a hairstylist who wants to cut your curls when wet," Linet said. Because your hair can tend to look much longer when it is wet, cutting it while it's in its expanded form could lead to a much shorter look than you anticipated once your ringlets spring back up. When a stylist cuts it dry, however, they can properly see where each curl sits and better give you the style that you want.
Whether you decide to go super short or keep your length and just add in some long layers to give it shape, make sure to keep your hair well-moisturised. Linet recommends using a leave-in conditioner and only brushing through your curls with a wide-tooth comb or your fingers, while it's still wet. To add shine without weighing down your curls, Linet advises using a lightweight oil to keep them soft and shiny.
