Meet Backstage, Dior's New, Less Expensive Makeup Line

Dior Launches Backstage, Less Expensive Beauty Line

Dior's makeup line is beloved for its foundation, eyeshadow palettes, and lip products (Lip Tattoo, anyone?). But, as expected from a designer line, you're going to have to shell upwards of £50 for some of its greatest hits. That can be cost-prohibitive for some, which is why the following is very good news indeed: Dior just announced the launch of Backstage, a more affordable line of grab-and-go products meant to streamline your beauty routine.

As the name implies, this line was inspired by the cosmetics used on models during Fashion Month. Makeup artist Peter Philips, the creative and image director for Dior, designed this line. As he said in a press release, "My team must be capable of working anywhere in the effervescent and hectic conditions of runway shows . . . And that was the aim when I redesigned all the indispensable items in my makeup bag." Philips went on to say, "These are efficient products that provide a professional result but are simple to apply."

It makes sense that the models Bella Hadid, Chu Wong, Manuela Sanchez, and Ruth Bell would front the campaign. Perhaps the most exciting news about this launch is that it brings with it 40 shades of foundation, which cost £29 each — still premium, but about £10 less than Dior's previous base releases. Along with that, you'll also find a plethora of brushes (£13 - £42 each) to use with an extensive array of palettes that can work on cheeks (£34), eyes (£38), and lips (£38). There's also a contour palette that has matte and shimmer shades to give you Bella-esque cheekbones. Another cool facet of the eyeshadow palette is that it contains a base primer shade that is meant to quell oily eyelids so that your colour stays put.
