Blogosphere was abuzz last night after Dove aired a new Mad Men themed ad during the show in the US. The new ad, set in a 1960s office, sends up the hit drama with its own fictional advertising agency. The scene unfolds as two executives are discussing how to sell soaps and the a secretary interrupts to give her own opinion, saying: "I know it's not my place, but . . ." The ad has been criticised for being sexist by viewers. Meanwhile, Unilever, Dove's parent company has defended the ad as a "historic parody" and lighthearted take on the era. Personally, I thought it was pretty harmless, in the sense that it's a clear play on the show's own style (which regularly pokes fun at the sexism of the 1960s). Check it out below! What do you think?
