Get Rachel Bilson's Half-Up Summer Hairstyle

Rachel Bilson can do no wrong in our book, and her casually tousled half-up hairstyle at Comic-Con was no exception. "She always wants to look cool, stylish, yet effortless," said hairstylist Davy Newkirk, who created her look. "I thought that her hair back off her face would look great, so I went for a cool half-up and half-down style, making sure to have a great texture to give it a modern look."

Newkirk started off with damp hair and applied a detangler, and then added Davines Texturiser Spray (£12.85) to her roots. "Next, I sprayed a little bit of Davines No. 14 Sea Salt Primer (£16) all over her hair before rough drying," he explained. "Then, using a medium round brush, I smoothed the hair out and gave some more lift to the roots."

Once the hair was dry, Newkirk went back with a 3/4-inch curling iron to create the tousled texture. "I took random sections and wrapped them around the curling iron, starting at the nape and working my way up the head. Using my fingers and a blow dryer, I broke up and tousled the curls."

To create the half-up style, Newkirk pulled the top side sections back with his hands and secured them with bobby pins. Once the two sections were in place, he went back with Davines Defining Invisible Paste (£10) to tame the hair on top and give it a little more texture. Lastly, he went through the hair that was down with a wide-toothed comb and set the look with Oribe Superfine Hairspray (£16.50).

Rachel proves a pulled-back hairstyle is a chic Summer option, especially when paired with radiant makeup like bronzed lids and rosy cheeks.
