Kristin Ess, the genius behind Lucy Hale's gorgeous hair [3], will never cease to amaze me. Not only are her creations to die for, but they also are fairly easy to re-create in the comfort of our own homes. Recently, she started sharing quick tutorials on her Instagram page [4], and one of them particularly caught my eye — so much so, actually, that I immediately shared it with my girlfriends. She calls it the half-knot pony.
In only a couple of minutes, this incredibly simple hack [5] completely changes the look of a simple ponytail, giving it a polished yet glamorous look that is fit for any occasion, from a casual Sunday brunch to a fancy evening out. All you'll need to re-create this hairstyle is two clear elastics and a hair clip. But the best thing about this upgraded ponytail is that it works as well on long hair as it does on lobs [6].
