Makeup mogul and beauty influencer Huda Kattan is known for being transparent about facts that many women would keep secret. She recently confessed to getting rhinoplasty in Harper's Bazaar Arabia, and now, in an interview with Cosmopolitan.com, she's getting real about lip fillers, which she calls "the gateway plastic surgery procedure."
"The trend is going to grow even more," she declared. "Women just never think their lips are big enough, even when they are really big. The first thing I always hear from women when they sit down with me is, 'I need to fill my lips.'"
Huda understands that feeling. In fact, she got lip injections right before she got into makeup. "I felt like my lips were small," she confessed. "They actually weren't, but I wanted that juicy Angelina Jolie lip." She explained that this decision was the worst thing she ever did. "The guy literally ruined my lips," she said. "Ever since then, I've had fillers to try to fix everything because my lips came out so uneven. I wish I had never done it and gone the lip liner route instead."
In fact, lip pencils have been an essential part of Huda's routine for years now. That's why she ended up developing Huda Beauty Lip Contour, a range of lip liners that can be used to create the appearance of a plush pucker without looking overdrawn. "I hate when lips are obviously overlined," Huda told POPSUGAR earlier this year. "I think it's so tacky."
Part of the reason she addressed her lip fillers at all is because Cosmopolitan.com's writer asked about Kendall Jenner's lips, which recently garnered a great deal of attention — and speculation — for appearing plumper than usual.
"From my perspective, it looks like Kendall's had her lips done," Huda remarked. "I think she looks great, but it's her business, and if she's had a bit of filler, I don't think there's anything wrong with it. It's hard being in the public eye. People expect you to explain what you've done. People should leave her alone."
