If we ever need hair inspiration, we need look no further than pop star Katy Perry [1]. She's tried everything from bubblegum pink hair [2] to a pixie, which she admitted left her feeling "exposed," [3], and even teal blue hair [4]. Her latest switch might not have been a dramatically colourful one, but it still made us gasp.
Last week, Perry temporarily said goodbye to her pixie in favour of a superstylish blonde lob with some lived-in brunette roots, and it might just be one of our favourite looks yet. Luckily for us, Chris Appleton (the man suspected to be Kim Kardashian's bodyguard [5] and creator of snatched ponytails [6]) shared a step-by-step tutorial on how to recreate Perry's lived-in wavy lob. Ahead, check out all angles of the new hairstyle to recreate at home.
Step 1
Appleton instructed to start by saturating the hair using Color Wow Dream Coat [7] (£24) to protect coloured hair from frizz and to lock in moisture.
Step 2
Next up is the styling, starting with blow drying with the Harry Josh Ultra Light Hairdryer [8] (£269).
Step 3
Midstyling, Appleton suggested sectioning the hair and spritzing with Color Wow Style on Steroids Texturizing Spray [9] (£10) to give the hair texture as well as protecting the colour.
Step 4
After applying texturizing spray, curl the hair in sections using Harry Josh 2-in-1 Ceramic Marcel Curling Iron [10] (£135). Appleton's recommended curling in alternate directions for the lived-in movement.
Step 5
For the final step, Appleton suggested brushing out the curls with a trusty Tangle Teaser (£10) for a soft finish. [11]
