I'm married, and I'll be honest about taking my wedding planning quite seriously. I was a New York City bride and back in the States, you can't help but dream of being in a Vera Wang ad, or at least her atelier at some point during the planning process. Then there's Gossip Girl. A show I've watched with dedication since Season 1. Not only was Eleanor Waldorf my old landlord, but I'm addicted to the clothes, the makeup, and of course, the Upper East Side drama.
So today was a fabulous day for me. Vera Wang has chosen Leighton Meester for the face of her new fragrance called Lovestruck and they both made an appearance today at Harrods and then at London's Corinthia Hotel for a very chic press tea. I didn't get an interview with the ladies, but I did get a photo amidst all of the hot pink peonies and I very much enjoyed listening to them speak about the scent.
Vera describes her inspiration as, "autobiographical. It's a new translation about love and feelings and how when you fall in love, it's powerful and undeniable. This is a modern Romeo and Juliet story. Not so much the ending, but the part when you get struck by love." When asked about Leighton, she was equally as passionate saying, "I was looking for someone who represents a good value system, youth and someone to look up to. I'm awestruck by Leighton. She's one of the most amazing young women today."
The fragrance itself contains notes of tuber rose, wild musks, mandarin, pink guava, lotus blossom and woods. Everything from the bottle to the ad (which happened to be filmed in -7 degree weather), took careful panning and apparently the cap of the bottle was the most techically difficult cao that Coty has ever created. Lovestruck has just launched in Harrods and will roll out nationwide on 26th June. Check out photos from the event below!
