If you aren't one of YouTube star Lilly Singh's 13 million subscribers [1], chances are you know the blogger through her Smashbox collaborations. The 29-year-old vlogger has fronted the brand's Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick and even released her own signature bright, long-wear, red shade in 2016 [2]. Now she's back, starring in the campaign of the line's latest Super Fan Mascara [3] ($19). So what's her secret for getting those lush lashes?

"Don't sneeze," she told POPSUGAR. (And really, what more is there to say in makeup and life?) According to Lilly, if you can keep your sinuses in check, you can apply the new Smashbox mascara. But rather than piling on the formula like she would with other mascaras, Lilly said, "I don't need to apply so many layers to get the effect I want. With the first stroke, the brush reaches my smaller lashes." It doesn't hurt that the lush look Super Fan gives off earns Lilly "loads of compliments."

Given Lilly's famous confidence (girlfriend named her first lipstick Bawse [4], after all), you might think her self-assurance comes naturally. But that's not always the case. "Confidence is a journey and a spectrum," she told us. "The key is to place your mind, body, and soul in the ideal scenario to feel confident. It's important to remember that one day filled with low self-esteem doesn't equal an unconfident person." The first step toward loving yourself, according to Lilly? "Make sure you're surrounded by people who bring out the best in you."

And when all else fails: "I try my best to do at least one solid hair flip a day. I'm pretty sure that helps a lot."
