Lucy Hale Teen Choice Awards Makeup
We Tried Lucy Hale's Green Eye Shadow and Felt Like Poison Ivy

The 2018 Teen Choice Awards was full of fun beauty moments, but one of my favourites had to be Lucy Hale's green eye shadow. Her makeup artist, Kelsey Deenihan, painted her eyes with vivid Poison Ivy-green shadow, and it was a hit with POPSUGAR Beauty's Instagram followers. So, naturally, I had to test out the look for my weekly Instagram series, Desktop Beauty, where I re-create popular celebrity looks each week.
Now I'll admit — I'm not a green eye shadow type of woman. I hardly wear shadow because I have yet to master blending techniques and looks that work for my particular eye shape. But when I do feel like painting my lids, I always reach for golden and copper hues. This look was definitely not up my everyday-makeup alley. However, once the green shadow was on, it taught me that a little colour never killed anybody.

Products Used
In order to achieve results as close as possible to Hale's, I tracked down some of the exact products she used. Deenihan used colours from the Kat Von D Beauty 10-Year Anniversary Palette. The palette was a limited edition and is no longer on sale, but the Kat Von D x Divine Eye Shadow Palette ($23) has some fun colours that could work for this look, too.
For blush, I took Too Faced's new Fruit Cocktail Blush Duo in StrobeBerry ($30) for a spin. Note: this is not the blush that was used on Hale; I just wanted to test this new product out. To mimic the peach colour on her lips, I used Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution in Sexy Sienna ($34). To top things off, I used Avon True Colour Lip Glow in Clear, the same exact one used for Hale's TCAs look.
Eyes
Since the eyes were the focus of this look, I wanted to spend enough time blending and diffusing the green shades. Lucky for me, each pigment I used from the Kat Von D palettes was incredibly opaque and easy to blend.
Final Look
Here's my final Lucy Hale-inspired look. What do you guys think? I, personally, would never reach for a vibrant shade on my eyes (especially at work), but I thought this was pretty fun to try. I was surprised that green actually looked flattering on my complexion, instead of making my eyes look sunken in.
My favourite part, and probably the most unexpected, is the Avon lip gloss Hale used. Yes, it's just clear gloss, but it's nothing like the sticky, goopy formulas I grew up using. It glides on like butter, has a pleasant scent (that isn't overbearing), and gave my lips a high-shine look that lasted more than a few minutes. I highly suggest keeping this one in your makeup arsenal.
