Lush Sleepy Collection Review

I Tested Lush's Many "Sleep" Products In 1 Night — and This Is What Happened

I tried Lush's many "Sleepy" products on one Sunday night to, well, fall asleep more easily.

The brand's Sleepy Lotion became a fan-favourite not only for its ability to deeply moisturise skin, but also for its lavender-based, relaxation-inducing scent. Since then, Lush has expanded its range of products with the word "Sleep" in it — most of which have the same or similar fragrance to the OG lotion.

As someone who needs a weighted blanket and lengthy meditation session to drift off, I needed to know if this line lived up to its name. Read on to learn more about what happened.

Lush Sleepy Face Naked Cleansing Balm

Before hopping into the tub, I used the Lush Sleepy Face Naked Cleansing Balm ($6) to remove my makeup. The oil-cleanser smells nothing like the brand's other products that have the word "sleep" in its name. It smells earthy. I swept the solid bar against my face and it quickly melted off my makeup and left my skin feeling moisturised.

What I love about this oil-cleanser — aside from its effects on my skin and the delightful face etched into surface — is that it's part of the brand's Naked Skin Care Collection. That means it comes with zero packageing and ends up being 100-percent waste-free.

Lush Deep Sleep Bath Bomb

The Lush Deep Sleep Bath Bomb ($8) isn't like the brand's other bath bombs. It is a solid ball like the rest of them, but it's wrapped in muslin to contain the mix of lavender and chamomile flowers that are encapsulated within it. Once I dropped it into my running bath, I watched as a cloud of deep purple take over my tub. It smelled strong of lavender and didn't have the hint of sweetness Lush's Sleepy products have. I soaked it in it for a good 30 minutes — just long enough to finish the first episode of Orange is the New Black's final season and to melt into complete relaxation. I was so relaxed that avoided draining the tub until I started to sweat from its heat. I noticed that afterward — once I had towel-dried my body — my entire body (including my hair) was silky soft.

Lush Sleepy Bar Soap

The newest addition to Lush's "Sleepy" family is the Lush Sleepy Bar Soap ($8) — which reminds me a lot of the brand's pastel-coloured Sleepy Shower gel. It has a similar scent and lathers into an identical milky lather. While in my bath, dipped the bar soap into my bath and began running across my body to further cleanse and soften my skin.

Lush Sleepy Shower Bomb

After draining the tub, I pulled out a Lush Sleepy Shower Bomb ($4), a cloud-shaped clump of soap that has the same scent as the other products in the line. I turned on my shower to rinse my body and make sure it was clean of any glitter from the Deep Sleep Bath Bomb.

When I first tested this product when it had first launched, it broke apart into create a skin-softening lather and a scent that encircled my bathroom. To be honest, when I started testing the Shower Bomb this time around, the entire room was filled with the scent of lavender and my skin was already silky soft. Testing this one had only kept the relaxation going.

Lush Sleepy Lotion

Finally, I slathered my entire body in Lush Sleepy Lotion ($10) — the product that started it all. The rich cream — which is made up of natural ingredients like oat milk, cocoa butter, and almond oil — moisturised my skin, and left it smelling like lavender with a hint of sweetness.

Truthfully, I didn't think this experiment would work — and maybe there were other factors that led to me falling fast asleep that evening — but I'm glad I tried it because I found at least five different ways to quell my Sunday scaries.
