I'm still reeling from the fashion and the flashlights of the Met Costume Institute Gala on Monday. What a night! I'm also starting to wonder about how a few of the attending starlets achieved their look. Carey Mulligan and Margherita Missoni were two of my favourites from the evening, so I was excited to catch up with legendary Dior makeup artists Ricky Wilson and 'Makky' who worked on their fabulous makeup!
To find out how their looks were achieved, just read more.
"Carey's look was about simple, beautiful skin and dramatic eyes," explains Makky of Carey's modern look. For the event Carey sported a crop, brushed forward in to a gamine-like fringe, paired with smoky eyes, nude lips and a glowing complexion.
For Carey's eyes, Makky used DiorShow Mascara (£21.50), with its DiorShow Brow Styler (£22.39) to frame the face. For the lips he used the brand's new hot product Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss in Pink Silk (£18) to give a subtle glossy shine.
Margherita's look, meanwhile, was about showing off her glowing tan and sultry eyes. Ricky explained, "Margherita's look was sun-kissed sexy with a neutral smokey eye."
To that end, he worked Dior's Hydra Life Pro-Youth Sorbet Creme in to the skin, along with DiorSkin Airflash Spray Foundation, finished by Dior's new Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen (£28.50), its Bronze Matte Sunshine (£33.50) and a sweep of rosy hued blush with Dior's English Rose shade.
Margherita's eyes and lips were created using Dior's Dior 5-Colour Eyeshadow in Earth Reflection (£45), DiorShow mascara and brow gel (as above), along with Dior's sensational Creme de Rose lip balm (£18.50), and again Dior's Ultra-Gloss lipgloss in Negligee Pink.
