The ubiquitous Nicole Richie is the current poster girl for the Luxe Hippy look that last summer spawned a thousand imitators, with artfully curled blonde hair and print maxi dresses.
At the Women In Film Crystal + Lucy Awards she pulled off that illusive, polished yet cool, vibe. Her huge, doe-like eyes were the focus of this look, with smoky, metallic shades expertly blended, and her skin looked typically flawless. To re-create this sultry, party look at home, read more.
- FACE: Using your fingers, lightly spread a medium coverage foundation all over your face and blend with a makeup sponge. Dab some concealer under your eyes with a smaller sponge. Try Becca Compact Concealer ,(£30). Add a touch of concealer to any blemishes and around the nose area. Then lightly sweep a translucent powder, such as Dr Haushka's, (£21), to ensure your makeup lasts the distance.
- EYES: A cream shadow is tempting for this look, but unless you're a makeup pro, I'd suggest using iridescent powder shadows with just a hint of metallic. Start with a yellowy-gold shimmery colour, such as Bourjois Beige Rose, under your brow bone, and then, very lightly on the lid. Work some powder into the inner corners of your eye, using their tiny applicator, for a wide-awake look. Then apply MAC Saddle. Next, add a touch of a darker colour, like MAC Antiqued, into the crease - and blend, blend, blend. Finally, line the eyes with a black liner and add two coats of your favourite black mascara.
- CHEEKS: Nicole has a great golden glow. Fake it with a blusher and bronzer-in-one compact like the Revlon limited-edition blush - A Floral Affair in Honeybunch. Use a large brush to sweep it onto the apples of your cheeks, forehead, chin and temples.
- LIPS: To keep the focus on her eyes, Nicole's lips look polished yet natural. I like the Estee Lauder Sheer Lip Tint in Bronze followed by a touch of Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss in Sugarcane.
