On Saturday, March 24, people around the globe will march at 836 different events to demand safety and to put a stop to senseless gun violence. Created in the wake of the mass shooting at Marjorie Stoneman Douglass High School, which killed 17 students and teachers on February 14, the March For Our Lives insists that now is the time to talk about guns and our safety in this country. These marches will also encourage students to register to vote.
Jen Atkin, founder of the brand, said on Instagram, "Because we are OUAI over guns... 15% of proceeds from theOUAI.com between today and 3/25 will go to the kids and families of @marchforourlives. On March 24th, we will take to the streets to demand that their lives and safety become a priority and that we end gun violence and mass shootings in our schools!! Team @theouai supports you brave students!!"
According to the march's site, school safety is not a political issue: "There cannot be two sides to doing everything in our power to ensure the lives and futures of children who are at risk of dying when they should be learning, playing, and growing. The mission and focus of March For Our Lives is to demand that a comprehensive and effective bill be immediately brought before Congress to address these gun issues. No special interest group, no political agenda is more critical than timely passage of legislation to effectively address the gun violence issues that are rampant in our country."
