Fashion designer Giorgio Armani and his beauty licensee, L’Oréal are all set to launch a new trio of perfumes. Based on traditionally Oriental scents, Onde is all about sensuality and womanliness. The advertising campaign will feature model Jessica Stam and has been shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
“With Onde, the idea is to play on sensuality and refinement,” Jean-Pierre Charriton, general manager of Giorgio Armani Parfums, a division of L’Oréal, told WWD. He revealed that each fragrance was inspired by a different geographic location, from the Middle East to India and Japan. Designed by Armani, each beautiful bottle features its own faceted pattern and signature muted hue. The flacons are also decorated with silk tassles for an exotic look.

The fragrances are directly inspired by each place. Onde Mystère, for example, includes influences from the Middle East. It has a musky oriental juice, which includes notes of incense, amber, benzoin, Moroccan rose buds and vanilla absolute. Influenced by India, Onde Vertige’s floral oriental scent comprises of frangipani flower, black liquorice, patchouli, pittosporum and jasmine petals. Meanwhile the woody oriental scent, Onde Extase, was created to conjure up notions of Japan. It featueres cedar, mimosa, Egyptian jasmine, narcissus absolute, pink pepper, Sicilian bergamot, musk and aesame absolute.
According to WWD, industry sources believe the Onde trio could generate first-year sales of around $20 million. The fragrances will roll out across Europe this month. They're also set to be launched in the US and Asia early next year.
