At the National Television Awards last night, Hollyoaks actress Gemma Merna sparkled on the red carpet. She combined her bright blonde bob with smouldering dark eye makeup and luminous skin. A light tan plus smudgy charcoal eyes gave her look Old Hollywood appeal.
I love Gemma's super flattering lip colour too and glowing cheeks. This is a simply stunning evening look that will suit most skin tones. For how to re-create Gemma's brand of glamour at home, just read more.
- Face: For a glowing complexion like Gemma, look for a base that complements your natural colouring, rather than covering it up. I like Revlon Custom Creations Foundation (£13.99).
- Cheeks: Cream blush is best for a dewy look but for evening go for a powder blush with a touch of shimmer. Apply Bourjois Little Round Pot Blusher (£6.25) in Rose d'Or to the apples of your cheeks for a fresh effect.
- Eyes: Use a good quality kohl pencil, such as Clinique Black Kohl Shaper (£12). Line the upper and lower lashes, taking the pencil right into the corners of the eyes for a dramatic look. Next, use Chanel Professional Eyeliner Duo, (£25), in Noir-Lamé, over the top of the pencil. Start by blending the black shade near the lashes and then take the colour up to the crease. Add the sparkly shade on top for extra show-stopping appeal.
- Lips: To ensure your lipstick lasts the night first line lips in a nude liner. Try The Body Shop Lip Liner. (£7.50) to give you a precise template on which to apply the lipstick. Next, opt for a colour that is somewhere between red-brown and raspberry for a flattering look. I like Rimmel Full Volume Lipstick (£5.49) in Full On.
