Reddit Lipstick Per Ounce Chart

Someone Calculated the Cost Per Ounce of Your Favourite Lipsticks, and One Is Over £300

uA redditor has just worked out how much lipsticks cost per ounce, and the results are really interesting. It's not much of a surprise that drugstore brands like Wet n Wild and E.L.F offer up the most bang for your buck, but Huda Beauty also came in pretty high on the list. However, the redditor later confirmed that she had actually used the lip contour pencil for this particular calculation.

[Update] I calculated the lipstick price (per ounce) for 36 makeup brands... from MakeupAddiction

Commenters were also surprised by how costly Fenty Beauty and Glossier are when you factor in weight, but let's be honest, we're still going to buy them! As someone else pointed out, "it's ALLLL about the aesthetic."

A lot of people in the comments were quick to point out that unlike other cosmetics, lipstick probably represents the largest portion of people's makeup collections, because they want to have a wide choice of colours. A lot of us rarely hit the end of the tube of lipstick. This is why, with brands like Colourpop, it might not matter that their lipstick sizes are smaller, because you are able to try a range of colours without also investing in the beautiful packaging as you might with a Tom Ford lipstick.

This list definitely gives us insight into what we're paying for, but lipsticks are much more than just product for beauty junkies. We can't deny our love for gorgeous packaging that we're happy to whip out and show off at every given opportunity. A lot of us love investing in a little bit of luxury. And have you seen Pat McGrath's bullet packaging?!
