This Rey-Inspired Triple Knot Is For the Padawan Seeking Greater Hair

07/05/2018 - 05:48 PM

I've got a confession: I'm not actually the biggest Star Wars fan. No hate, I'm just more of a Harry Potter kinda gal [1]. Although I may not know a Wookiee from a Jedi, I can appreciate the character's hair.

And in recent films, there's been one hairstyle that is both beautiful and pretty practical: Rey's triple knot. Great Lengths [2] has your Star Wars hair envy sorted with this step-by-step tutorial. If you're looking to take your Star Wars obsession to the next level or want to get involved without seeing the films (we won't tell anyone), this triple knot will have you channelling your inner Rey in no time.

Prep

You'll need:

The model is wearing: 150 Great Lengths [3] bonds of: Rooted colour 68-23 in 40cm.

Prep by curling the hair: wind 2-inch sections around the wand, hold for 5 seconds, once cooled run hands through the hair, then spritz with finishing spray.

Step 1

Working from the crown to the front hairline, backcomb the hair at the root to add volume.

Step 2

Smooth the front of the hair (from the ears to above the crown) using a paddle brush and secure with a clear band, ensuring that only half of the ponytail is pulled through to create a loop effect.

Step 3

Wrap the hair around the clear band and pin to secure.

Step 4

Repeat this process, taking a section through the middle of the head from the previous ponytail parting to the occipital bone (lower-back area of the head).

Step 5

Repeat this process again with the remaining hair.

Step 6

Use a comb to smooth any stray hairs and spray with finishing spray to hold in place.
