There's a scene in Beyonce's music video for "Ring the Alarm." In it, Bey wears a booty-length ponytail and, well . . . whips that sh*t like her life depended on it. Twelve years after seeing and memorising every move of that music video, I still find myself flinging this imaginary ponytail anytime I hear that song . . . or any Beyoncé song, for that matter.
But my imaginary ponytail has always been just that, imaginary. See, my hair has never been long enough to look like a voluptuous tail. Currently, my hair is chin-length and ends up looking like a sharp stump when pulled up. I've never had a problem with my baby ponytail, thank you very much. But recently I was invited to a one-on-one appointment with ponytail god Chris Appleton at the Glam Seamless boutique in Soho, and it totally changed the way I feel about my current tail situation.
