The stress of travelling with beauty products is a lot like competing in a high-profile baking competition: you hope what you put forth on the table will make it through to the next round — and that your favourite serum makes the cut. To avoid a product getting confiscated at the airport, there are a few rules you can keep in mind.

First, there is a "3-1-1 rule" for liquids, gels, and aerosol products you can bring in a carry-on: every product must be 3.4 ounces or less and fit in a one-quart-size, clear plastic zip-up bag. Each passenger is limited to one of these bags, so choose your serums and liquid foundations wisely. Second, powder and solid makeup can be brought in both a carry-on or a checked bag. If you choose to travel with a powder product that weighs more than 12 ounces, it must be placed in a separate bin for screening.

To cut out some of the guesswork, we've put together a list of mini beauty products that are sure to get through the judging process. Safe travels!
