Vivienne Westwood Red Label's Beauty Look Lived Up to Its Name
While many designers choose models specifically for a uniform look, casting for a Vivienne Westwood Red Label show must go a little differently. Personality is the key, as the models chosen are expected to strut down the catwalk with more attitude than Miley Cyrus at an MTV awards show.
Backstage, the girls showed off one of London Fashion Week’s strongest beauty looks. Doll-like false lashes, loads of a red-toned blush, and a semimatte red lip applied in a deliberately haphazard, smudged way gave these girls their cherubic look. MAC makeup artist Val Garland added matte red pigment over lipstick to get the bold effect on the lips and used red and orange lipstick blended together and applied with a stipple brush to give the deep-down glow to the cheeks.
Hair could only go one way — angelic curls, swept into soft updos or pushed back off the face without a parting. Toni & Guy stylist Mark Hampton used a medium barrel to make the curls, which looked particularly perfect poking out of the collection's many hats.
