I've never believed in primers. These days, foundations do a pretty good job at controlling shine, and even if my T-zone does get a bit oily throughout the day, it's nothing a little bit of powder won't fix. Plus, I already spend more money than I should on beauty products, so why add one to my ever-growing must-buy list?
After trying Younique's Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes mascara and being very much impressed, I got really tempted and thought I'd give the brand's Glorious Face and Eye Primer (£30) a go — and if at first I was slightly dubious, the fragrance-free product finally won me over. One pump was sufficient to cover my whole face, and the gel-like texture glided onto my skin, giving it a lovely velvety finish. It didn't dry out my skin or cling to my dry patches, and applying foundation on top of it was a dream. No lunchtime touch-ups were necessary, and although my forehead was slightly shiny by the time I got home, it was barely noticeable.
If I used to snub those kinds of products, trying this one out has actually made me change my mind about them. I now see that they can be really useful, and I feel like my hunt for the Holy Grail of primers has only just begun. Sorry, lipsticks, but it looks like I've found a new love.
