Alicia Keys [3]'s husband, Swizz Beatz, believes we can come out on the other side of social distancing with at least a handful of new skills. After all, over the course of just a couple of months, we've had to become our own beauticians and navigate waxing kits [4], at-home gel manicures [5], and DIY hair colouring [6], plus so much more.
Like many of us unsuspecting regulars, Keys went into social distancing with a full set of acrylic nails on and now, 33 days later, needs them removed ASAP. Anyone who's tried to remove an acrylic or gel manicure [7] on their own knows what a struggle this is. So, to help her tackle the job, she enlisted Beatz.
In a video posted on his Instagram, Beatz can be seen filing off one of Keys's fake nails while the singer sits there with foil on her other fingers. "You can use an X-Acto knife," nail novice Beatz said. But Keys understandably scoffed at that idea. "Quarantine Day 33. I think everyone will come out of this more handy and crafty 100%," read his caption.
We have to admire his focus and dedication to the task at hand; even the most experienced fake-nail fan hates the removal process.
