Alyssa Edwards' lengthy career as a drag performer has left her with a unique perspective on makeup and beauty. "I love the power of makeup," she told POPSUGAR. "Makeup is fun. It's art, and art is subjective — so be creative! Make lots of mistakes, because it's going to wash off, and you can wipe it away and restart."
Speaking of restarting, the RuPaul's Drag Race alum geared up for her recent one-woman show, Alyssa, Memoirs of a Queen, in London by partnering with Degree for the brand's "Move Again" campaign, which celebrates movement in all forms as more cities around the country begin to lift their COVID-19-focussed restrictions. Edwards herself recently started wearing deodourant again after spending a chunk of lockdown skipping it, but this of course, isn't the only beauty product that's become a staple in her beauty bag over the years.
Ahead, Edwards spoke to us about her favourite sweat-proof beauty products and the one drag queen she'd definitely swap makeup bags with.

If there's anything we'd call Edwards an expert on, it's knowing how to keep a full face of makeup looking fresh and new while working up a sweat. To help her out with this, one of her all-time favourite products with unmatched staying power is a tried-and-true classic: the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade ($21). "It's so important for me for my eyebrows not to move," she said. "This is not only a game-changer, but it's a must-have in my makeup kit."
When setting her face, she typically reaches for the Ben Nye Final Seal Matte Sealer ($10). "I'm doing a one-woman show with several dance numbers and I have a gala right after," she said. "This is good for if I'm going to be doing high-impact performance."

How Edwards' Relationship With Beauty Has Changed Throughout Her Career
Edwards has mastered the art of applying her own makeup at this point, though she still loves getting her makeup done every once in a while as a way to learn new beauty tips and tricks from other artists.
"I'm allowed to relinquish total control and let someone showcase their artistry and how they see my face," she said. "I've always been the boss or the teacher or the director, and this is kind of what it's like to be a student again. We have so many platforms and outlets where we can learn so many things about makeup, and I think it's cool to just gather as much knowledge and information as possible."
