Apple Martin Interviews Gwyneth Paltrow and Blythe Danner

Apple Martin Asks Gwyneth Paltrow and Blythe Danner About Skin Care and the Beauty of Ageing

My mum and grandma taught me some of my most valuable beauty tips: don't sleep with makeup on, wear sunscreen, and moisturise daily. Their advice means everything, and even as makeup trends change, I always have those words of wisdom to rely on. It turns out, Apple Martin is gathering similar help from her mum, Gwyneth Paltrow, and her grandma, Blythe Danner. It's a family affair!

In a video published on Sunday, the trio sat down in Paltrow's backyard to talk about the Goopgenes All-in-One Nourishing Face Cream and Eye Cream. Martin asked a few questions about skin care, the beauty of ageing, and their advice for their younger selves.

"I feel like you were so natural with stuff," Paltrow explained, turning to Danner. "Like you never fussed in the bathroom, you never had a big getting-ready routine. . . . I always had a very minimal routine, but I did get — because you have dry skin and I have dry skin — the idea of always having moisturiser." Danner revealed she learned about skin care from her own mum, who used Vaseline as an all-over product.

Martin also asked her mother and grandmother, "What age did you guys feel the prettiest?" For Paltrow, it was her late 30s. "I think ageing is hard," she said. "It's definitely a process, and I think when you see your face start to change, you don't necessarily feel your most beautiful externally. But the irony is it's that time in your life when you actually really like yourself and love yourself. So you sort of internally feel really beautiful."

"I think I felt prettiest at 50," Danner responded. "Maybe because of what you just said!" They also threw in a little advice for their younger selves. "Grow up!" Danner joked, while Paltrow would simply say, "Get your sh*t together, man!"
