Scrunchie and Hydro Flask Ready? Shop My Top Picks From Emma Chamberlain's Bad Habit

20/01/2021 - 11:30 PM

From pimple popping to overusing active ingredients, these bad habits are ones I can't seem to quit. We all have a few bad habits, especially in our beauty routines, but Bad Habit skin care aims to help us break those habits. Emma Chamberlain [1] and I might be very different, but we have one big thing in common: dealing with acne. When I found out that our resident VSCO girl is the global brand ambassador and creative director of the Bad Habit skin-care line [2], I knew I had to test out the whole collection. I was impressed by how cohesive the line is and how everything works together yet has something for everyone. Whether you have dry, oily, acne-prone skin, or you're just a beginner who wants to get into the world of skin care [3], Bad Habit will add some good into your routine. These products do have fragrance and essential oils, so if you are sensitive to either, they might not be the right fit for you.

The line is divided into two sections: Daily Essentials and Quick Fix Treatments. The Daily Essentials are the base products you'll need and use every day. The Quick Fix Treatments are problem solvers that will help fix any skin concern overnight. You can check out the whole line, which is under £30 at Morphe [4]! Out of all 10 products, here are eight we love the most.

Bad Habit Power Sleep Melatonin & Glycolic Night Cream

I absolutely love the Bad Habit Power Sleep Melatonin & Glycolic Night Cream [6] (£25), a Daily Essential. It's exfoliating and moisturising without feeling abrasive. It has a thick consistency that's perfect for winter nights. My skin the next morning looks brighter. This is perfect for someone like me who has dark spots. The Power Sleep Melatonin & Glycolic Night Cream reminds me of the Origins High-Potency Night-A-Mins Resurfacing Cream, but affordable. It has a faint floral scent as well. I probably would not use this on the night I use the Total Reboot AHA/BHA Enzyme Peel if you are on the sensitive skin side.

Bad Habit Daily Dose Multivitamin Moisturiser

The Bad Habit Daily Dose Multivitamin Moisturiser [7] (£24), a Daily Essential, is loaded with Vitamin C, E, niacinamide and anti-pollution ingredients. This is a great daily moisturiser for the mornings and nights. It moisturised my skin without feeling heavy or too light. The moisturiser melted into my skin while keeping it supple. It smells fruity and citrusy which is great for waking yourself up in the mornings!

Bad Habit Wake Things Up Matcha & Mint Daily Cleanser

The Bad Habit Wake Things Up Matcha & Mint Daily Cleanser [8] (£19), a Daily Essential, is definitely named correctly. The minty feeling and smell does wake you up, but if you are sensitive to minty scents this might a bit much, especially for the eyes. However, I loved it! The cleanser feels refreshing and cool. It has a slight lather but creamy consistency. This would be a great cleanser to use after a workout, or even in the summer time.

Bad Habit OMZZZ Acai Nightly Cleansing Balm

The Bad Habit OMZZZ Acai Nightly Cleansing Balm [9] (£22), a Daily Essential, smells refreshing and breaks down my makeup and sunscreen with ease. You only need a little bit to liquify the solid balm and spread it all over your face. Once it's massaged in, it will emulsify (turns white and milky) easily with water. When I rinsed off the cleansing balm, my skin feels normal not stripped but also doesn't feel like there's a film on top.

Bad Habit Dewd Hemp Nourishing Facial Oil

The Bad Habit Dewd Hemp Nourishing Facial Oil [10] (£29), a Quick Fix Treatment, is lightweight in consistency and smells like lavender. It's filled with calming ingredients including adaptogens, moisturising fatty acids, and antioxidants like turmeric, licorice and more! It's a great oil to use for facial massage or if you need to lock in all the hydration and moisture from your previous steps. You can even mix a few drops in your foundation or moisturiser for a glowy day-time look.

Bad Habit Total Reboot AHA/BHA Enzyme Peel

The Bad Habit Total Reboot AHA/BHA Enzyme Peel [11] (£28), a Quick Fix Treatment, is filled with papaya and pineapple fruit enzymes and a potent blend of AHAs, BHA, and PHA to exfoliate dull, dry cells and help accelerate cell turnover. The mask is pretty strong and feels tingly on the skin. It feels comparable to The Ordinary AHA/BHA Peeling solution in terms of potency. I kept it on for 10 min and washed it off, revealing softer and brighter skin. However, I was not a fan of the scent. Because of its strength I would only use it once a week.

Bad Habit 10-Minute Rehab Green Juice Charcoal Detox Mask

The Bad Habit 10-Minute Rehab Green Juice Charcoal Detox Mask [12] (£24), a Quick Fix Treatment, will dry up and diminish most types of acne whether it's hormonal or maskne. It has charcoal and kaolin clay to absorb and draw out impurities and antioxidants to treat our skin right. I applied a thin layer and waited for 10 minutes before washing it off. It has tiny bits of grittiness so it feels like a physical exfoliator my skin has well. My skin does feel softer after using but it also feels tighter and dried out. It's definitely good for someone with acne prone or oily skin. I would also use this as spot treatment to dry out active acne.

Bad Habit Silent Mode Hydrating Hyaluronic Mask

I personally loved using the Bad Habit Silent Mode Hydrating Hyaluronic Mask [13] (£24), a Quick Fix Treatment, since I suffer from winter dryness. You can either leave it on for ten min and rinse off or use it as a sleeping mask. It smells like lavender goodness, has a cooling effect, made me feel like I was in a spa. I use this almost everyday around my eyes and on my lips right before bed for extra hydration in those areas since I get severely dry there. This ultra hydrating mask is great for people with dry skin or people who need to up their hydration levels in the winter.
