All the Beauty Brands That Have Temporarily Closed Due to the Coronavirus So Far

As COVID-19 (coronavirus) continues to spread around the world, many brands are beginning to take action in order to keep customers and employees safe. In the beauty industry in particular, a handful of companies have sent out emails and messages to customers updating them on the changes that they've made to their in-store hygiene policies to reduce the risk of spread. Others, particularly those in areas where the outbreaks either are or have the potential to be slightly more severe, have made the difficult decision to close their stores indefinitely due to the CDC's warnings to avoid areas or events with crowds of more than 50 people.

On March 12, Glossier announced that it would be closing its retail locations in New York City, Los Angeles, London, and Atlanta for two weeks. The brand has also postponed the grand opening of its newest location, which was supposed to open in Arizona on March 18.

Lush made the decision to close all 258 of its retail locations in the US and Canada from March 16-29. The bath and body brand also promised that all employees would receive regular pay for the time they'd be taking off.

Deciem, the parent company to brands like The Ordinary and Niod, didn't announce any further details on when its stores should be expected to reopen, but it did ensure that all employees will be paid for their time as normal.

Facegym is temporarily closing by end of day Wednesday March 18th until further notice. In an email statement, the company is aiming to fast track a "virtual exercise platform FACEGYM FREESTYLE a series of fun facial exercise routines you can do at home using your hands and our tools, allowing us all to continue working out those forgotten 40 muscles!"

It was announced via Instagram stories that Selfridges are shutting its doors to the London, Birmingham, and Manchester stores by 7pm on Wednesday 18th.

The Body Shop has made the decision to close its stores across the UK ensuring the safety and wellbeing of both the staff and customers.

Harrods has closed its doors for the first time in 170 years. The store will be closed for customers until further notice, excluding food halls and the pharmacy where they'll continue to serve fresh groceries and essential medicines.
