Running Out of Beauty Products? Sainsbury's Actually Stocks Some Great Beauty Buys

22/05/2020 - 02:00 PM

In the UK, essential outings [1] are the only reason you should be leaving your house right now, including the occasion trip to your local Sainsbury's. But just because we can't leisurely browse the shelves of Space NK or Boots [2] (don't worry, that time will come around soon enough), doesn't mean we can't pick up some of the beauty products we've come to rely on. As it turns out, the trusty supermarket has heaps of brands stocked on its shelves that you may have never even known were there.

Recently, Sainsbury's has completely overhauled its beauty aisles to offer a wider selection of brands. In addition to extending its own brand's product offerings, now you'll find brands like Aveeno, Sanctuary Spa, Nip & Fab, Neutrogena, Weleda, and much more tucked away in the beauty section of the store. Perfect to pick up quickly during your food shop.

So, if you need some new body wash, nail-polish remover, cleanser, moisturiser, or hand cream [3], Sainsbury's has got you covered. Read on to see some of the great beauty buys that your local store has to offer.

Sainsbury's Sun Protect Invisible Sun Spray High 30 SPF

Since the sunny weather doesn't show any sign of slowing down, SPF is more important than ever. You should be wearing it everyday on your face (yes, even indoors, and we have great recommendations for that [4]), but also on your body during your daily walk on a particularly hot day, or if you're spending lots of time in the garden. The Sainsbury's Sun Protect Invisible Sun Spray High 30 SPF [5] (£4.50) is an absolute bargain.

My Skin Matters Anti-Age Hand Cream Q10

Since we're all washing and sanitising our hands more than normal, it's important to moisturise to prevent dry, sore, and cracked skin. The My Skin Matters Anti-Age Hand Cream Q10 [6] (£1.50) isn't too scented or too greasy, it's extremely affordable.

Neutrogena Ageless Boost Hydrogel Recovery Mask

During lockdown, if you still find yourself craving a self-care face mask moment [7], then you should absolutely treat yourself to that moment. The Neutrogena Ageless Boost Hydrogel Recovery Mask [8] (£2.50) has a gel-like texture, which fits nicely on the skin and doesn't fall off straight away (great for people that like to mask while working!). It'll give your skin a surge of moisture and leave it baby-smooth.

Sanctuary Spa Salt Scrub

We're still enjoying a pamper moment during lockdown, and that includes exfoliating (which is even more important if you're a fake tanner). The Sanctuary Spa Salt Scrub [9] (£14) features the brand's iconic scent, contains hydrating oils (which also makes sure the salt isn't too harsh on the skin), and comes in a pretty rose gold jar.

L'Oréal Paris Elvive Dream Lengths No Haircut Cream

Let's face it, none of us will be getting down to the hair salon for a little while still, so in the meantime, dry brushing [10] to that list. Dry brushing is known to get rid of dead skin cells on the surface, leaving your skin feeling extra smooth and soft. It doesn't have to be an expensive endeavour either, thanks to the Sainsbury's Round Wooden Massager Brush [11] (£3).

John Frieda Violet Crush For Blondes Shampoo & Conditioner

Hair need a bit of a blonde top-up during lockdown? You don't need to reach for the bleach (trust us, it's not worth it!) Give your hair colour a boost of vibrance and cut out any brassiness with the John Frieda Violet Crush For Blondes Shampoo [12] (£4) and John Frieda Violet Crush For Blondes Conditioner [13] (£4).

Sainsbury's Nail Polish Remover

If you're partial to an at-home manicure [14], then Sainsbury's Nail Polish Remover [15] (£1) is a must-have in your stash.

Weleda Skin Food

If there's one product you'll find in nearly every single makeup artists kit, it's Weleda Skin Food [16] (£10). Small but mighty, this bad boy will soothe even the driest of skin. It's ideal for key workers that are suffering from dry and sore skin due to excessive hand washing — although, it can also be used as a face cream for those with dry, irritated skin.

L'Oréal Paris Revitalift Filler Replumping Ampoules

If your skin is in need of a pick-me-up, then hunt down the L'Oréal Paris Revitalift Filler Replumping Ampoules [17] (£20) during your next shop. Each ampoule is packed with the perfect dose of highly concentrated hyaluronic acid, and when used for seven days consecutively, promises intensely plumped and moisturised skin.

Urban Veda Sandalwood + Botanics Soothing Day Cream

Urban Veda Sandalwood + Botanics Soothing Day Cream [18] (£19) is packed full of plant extracts to hydrate and calm irritated skin during the day.

Love Beauty And Planet Tropical Hydration Shower Gel

Missing your holidays? We can't promise that it'll be exactly the same, but the Love Beauty And Planet Tropical Hydration Shower Gel [19] (£5) is the smell of summer holidays in a (recyclable, sustainable) bottle. We'll take what we can get at the moment, including this shower gel.

Sainsbury's My Hair Matters Tropical Dry Shampoo

Not sure about you, but dry shampoo is the top of our must-have beauty lockdown list. We'd much rather skip the faff of washing our hair for an extra day or two by spritzing Sainsbury's My Hair Matters Tropical Dry Shampoo [20] (£1.50).

My Skin Matters Anti-Fatigue Eye Gel

If you're suffering from restless sleep at the moment, the My Skin Matters Anti-Fatigue Eye Gel (available in store), can help reduce any puffiness and minimise the appearance of fine lines in the mornings.

Bioré Ultra Deep Cleansing Pore Strips

Sometimes our pores need just that little bit more help, so for this you might want to pick up a box of the Biore Ultra Deep Cleansing Pore Strips [21] (£6) on your next food shop, then marvel at the grime that you peel off with it.

Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturising Lotion

Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturising Lotion [22] (£4) is guaranteed to keep dry skin at bay, all thanks to its triple oat complex and shea butter formula.

Super Facialist Hyaluronic Acid Firming Super Lift Day Cream

If you're looking for a new, affordable moisturiser for your thirsty skin, consider Super Facialist Hyaluronic Acid Firming Super Lift Day Cream [23] (£11.50). As the name suggests, it contains superhydrator, hyaluronic acid, along with plenty of other moisturising ingredients.

L'Oréal Kids Super Pear Tangle Tamer

The last thing you want after homeschooling and keeping your kids entertained [24] all day long is a de-tangling tantrum. The L'Oréal Kids Super Pear Tangle Tamer [25] (£2) helps to ease any knots after washing to make sure there are no tears at bath time.

Nip + Fab Vitamin C Fix Tonic

Bet you didn't know you could get Nip + Fab Vitamin C Fix Tonic [26] (£20) at Sainsbury's. The combination of vitamin C and lactic acid will help brighten your complexion by removing dead skin ells from the surface (which also, by the way, leaves it feeling silky soft).

Love Beauty & Planet Vegan Pampering Muru Muru Butter and Rose Deodorant

If you're looking for a new deodorant, Sainsbury's has plenty to choose from. We like the Love Beauty & Planet Vegan Pampering Muru Muru Butter and Rose Deodorant [27] (£4.50) because it smells of fresh roses.

L'Oréal Paris Elvive Colour Protect Caring Shampoo

It's never been more important to use colour-safe products if you're trying to prolong the life of your hair colour. The L'Oréal Paris Elvive Colour Protect Caring Shampoo [28] (£3.50) and Conditioner has never let us down.

Boutique Lip Velvet in Cherry Bomb

There's definitely nothing stopping us wearing a red lip around the house for us, and only us, to enjoy. We love this superaffordable one from Boutique in the shade Cherry Bomb (available in store).

John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Moisturising Shampoo & Conditioner

If you aren't one for topping up your brunette hue at home, try a colour protect shampoo and conditioner instead. The trusty duo of John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Moisturising Shampoo [29] (£4) and John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Moisturising Conditioner [30] (£4) makes sure your rich brunette shade doesn't fade, all while hydrating the hair.

Velvotan Mitt

Well you can't apply tan without a mitt, can you? The answer to that question is no, it's best not to use your socks, surgical gloves, or even worse, your hands, if you can avoid it. On your next trip to the supermarket, pick up a Velvotan Mitt (£3, available in store) to make sure your tan applies streak-free and doesn't leave you with bright orange palms.
