The Best New Beauty Products Launching in the UK in March 2020

19/03/2020 - 01:20 PM

In recent years, the beauty industry has grown exponentially, with new launches, lines, and collaborations coming at us in rapid succession. Every casual scroll through your Instagram feed presents you with new beauty products being revealed (especially if you follow someone with the last name of Kardashian [1] or Jenner [2]), and let's not even get started with all those targeted ads you never asked to see. So how do you keep track of all of the beauty newness going on? And more specifically, how do you know which items you can buy in the UK (without paying exorbitant shipping fees, that is)? Well, that's where we come in.

We got the inside scoop on what's hitting the shelves — digitally and in store — of Space NK, Cult Beauty [3], Superdrug [4], Boots [5], and beyond to find the best new beauty launches of the month, rounding them up in one place to make it easy for you. Maybe you're in the market for something specific — like a new foundation formula or a new body lotion [6] to help soothe your dry, Winter-ravaged skin — or to just discover a new fragrance to spritz for Spring [7]. And there's a whole lot of newness to peruse in March, including a new foundation formula from Bobbi Brown and Dyson's much-anticipated Corrale straightening iron [8]. Keep reading to learn about these and all of the other beauty newness launching this month.

Dyson Corrale Straightener

We've been waiting for a Dyson straightener since the brand dropped its Supersonic Hair Dryer back in 2018. And this month, it's finally here. The Dyson Corrale Straightener [9] (£399) has revolutionary flexible metal plates, three temperature settings, and rechargeable battery with a detachable magnetic cord that gives you the option to go cord-free if you like. After seven years of research and £25 million of investment in research and development, Dyson promises that the Corrale reduces the damage to your hair by 50 percent [10] as the flexible plates provide better distribution of force and heat every time you clamp down on a section.

Sunny Razors

Sunny is a new brand, launching exclusively at Boots, with the aim of taking the faff out of shaving. With simplicity at its core, there are just two Sunny Razors [11] (£8) to choose from: teal and pink. In addition to the razor handles, the brand offers refill blade packs to help reduce unnecessary waste, as well as two shaving creams: a gel and a mousse formula. So far, I've tried the Sunny Shaving Gel (which has a delicious cucumber scent) and the pretty pink razor, and I'm in agreement that it's as easy and uncomplicated as promised. The non-grip handle and angle of the razor reduces any chance of nasty slips or cuts, and I got a superclose, smooth shave, thanks to the five bladed razor head.

Starface Big Yellow Hydro-Stars Hydrocolloid Pimple Patches

Historically, when it comes to spots, we've always tried to disguise them as best as possible, whether that's by popping them (which we absolutely don't recommend but have inevitably done many times), covering them up with concealer, or, more recently, hiding them with flesh-coloured pimple patches.

Beauty-editor founded brand, Starface, with its photogenic hydrocolloid pimple patches, encourages us to do the exact opposite. The brand's Starface Big Yellow Hydro-Stars [12] (£19), which finally launched in the UK this month, are meant to be seen — and shown off — as they simultaneously absorb fluid from the spot (thereby flattening it), protect it from bacteria, and prevent you from picking it or touching it.

Fekkai Brilliant Gloss Multi-Tasker

This month, Frédéric Fekkai relaunches his iconic hair brand at Selfirdges and feelunique.com with cleaner formulas and more sustainable packaging. For example, each bottle is now made from 95-percent repurposed plastic, which is 100-percent recyclable, while every formula is now 100-percent vegan, and silicones have been replaced by naturally-derived, lightweight esters made form plant sources. The initial 14 products to relaunch are from his five iconic ranges: Full Blown Volume, Technician Color, Super Strength, Baby Blonde, and Brilliant Gloss. Shown here is the Fekkai Brilliant Gloss Multi-Tasker [13] (£22), the new-and-improved version of his much-loved Brilliant Glossing Cream, which can be used either on wet hair as a blow-dry prep or a curl-definer, or on dry hair as a shine enhancer and frizz tamer.

Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Sticks

No, you're not going crazy. The Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Sticks aren't new, but these 12 exciting shades additions certainly are. While the original hues were mostly subtle, play-it-safe neutrals, these colours offer a show-stopping range of electric brights (Magenta, Turquoise), dazzling jewel tones (Violet, Indigo), and unexpected metallics (Siena, Nude Rose).

The new Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Sticks [14] (£24 each) launch on 20th March.

Lottie London Velvet Skin Tint

Somewhere between a tinted moisturiser and Glossier's Skin Tint, is the Lottie London Velvet Skin Tint [15] (£10), which launches on 19th March. It's not as viscous and creamy as a tinted moisturiser — the formula is runnier and more like a liquid — but it still contains hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid, and jam-packed with pigment. And the finish is truly velvety: it's matte enough to blur and keep shine away, but not so matte that it looks like you over-powered your face.

Charlotte Tilbury Eye Colour Magic Eyeliner Duos

Tilbury's new Eye Colour Magic collection includes four eye shadow palettes and four dual-ended eyeliners, all of which promise to bring out and intensify the colour of your eyes, whether that's blue, green, grey, brown, or hazel. The latter, the Charlotte Tilbury Eye Colour Magic Eyeliner Duos [16] (£21 each), are truly genius (and very travel friendly). One side is matte, the other is a similar shade with a metallic finish. Use each colour on its own, layer the sparkly one on top of the matte, or, you can line your top lashes with the matte and bottom lashes with the shimmery one (or visa versa if you prefer) for a truly eye-enhancing effect.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Lash Brag Volumising Mascara

It's crazy to think that Anastasia Beverly Hills hasn't had a mascara in its range until now. This month, the brand has introduced the Anastasia Lash Brag Volumising Mascara [17] (£27.50), a glossy, creamy formula that really thickens and lengthens your lashes. And while it's probably not the right mascara for people who prefer more natural-looking lashes, this formula is incredibly buildable. Our editor who was able to test Lash Brag [18] before it launched uses three-to-four coats for work, but really adds on the layers for a night out.

Urban Decay Inked 3-Day Brow Gel

Waterproof, smudge-proof, and sweat-resistant, Urban Decay Inked 3 Day Brow Gel [19] (£22) promises to last for up to 60 hours. Now, while we don't recommend not washing your face for three days, it will be reassuring to have this brow gel in your makeup kit come Summer if you're someone who fills in their brows on a daily basis — especially if your skin tends to get oily throughout the day.

Urban Decay Inked 3 Day Brow Gel launches on 5th Mar.

Fenty Match Stix Matte Skinsticks in Ebony and Caviar

Fenty Beauty has always prided itself on offering a vast range of shades, which is why this month they've added two new shades of Match Stix Matte Skinsticks to the collection — Fenty Match Stix Matte Skinsticks in Ebony and Caviar [20] (£21 each) — that are made specifically made for very deep skin tones.

Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Fluid Powder Foundation

The Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Fluid Powder Foundation [21] (£28) is a liquid foundation and powder in one. And yes, you read that correctly. The hybrid formula starts as a fluid and then dries down as a powder with a soft-matte finish, which means you actually don't need to set this with an additional loose or pressed powder. And because it of the powder in the formula, not only is it non-acnegenic (so it's good if you're prone to spots), it's also sweat and humidity resistant, making it a great foundation to invest in as we look forward to the warmer months.

L'Oréal Paris Brilliant Signature Liquid Ink

Not all liquid lipsticks have to be be matte. The L'Oréal Paris Brilliant Signature Liquid Ink [22] (£11) formula offers the high-shine finish of a gloss, but with the richness and opacity of a traditional liquid lipstick. And because the texture is quite thin and and not at all sticky, it glides on lips easily and lasts much longer than a lip gloss, meaning you can swipe it on and forget about it on a night out. It's not indelible (it will leave a mark on your glass), but the good thing is that it fades down to a really nice, non-blotchy stain.

Nars Powerchrome Loose Eye Pigments

Nars gave us a sneak preview of the new Nars Powerchrome Loose Eye Pigments [23] (£22) backstage at Rixo's Autumn/Winter 2020 show [24] during London Fashion Week. Available in six shades (although, more are to come throughout the year), the super-twinkly loose pigments are actually quite densely packed, meaning that not only are they easier to manipulate with a brush or your finger (i.e. less glitter flying all over the place), but they're also incredibly opaque when pressed onto the lids.

Ciaté Triple Shot XXL Mascara

The Ciaté Triple Shot XXL Mascara [25] (£19.50), features itty-bitty fibres that promise to add 3mm of length on to your lashes. That might not sound like a lot, but consider lashes are, on average, about 10mm long, adding that much is quite an impressive feat.

Essence Bye Bye Panda Eyes Smudge Proof Mascara

From the brand who brought us the inexpensive, internet-favourite Lash Princess Mascara [26], comes the Essence Bye Bye Panda Eyes Smudge Proof Mascara [27] (£3.50), a volumising and lengthening formula that promises not to budget and smear underneath your eyes throughout the day.

Too Faced Born This Way The Natural Nudes Skin-Centric Eye Shadow Palette

Too Faced's new eye shadow palette is inspired by the shades of its best-selling Born This Way Foundation. The Too Faced Born This Way The Natural Nudes Skin-Centric Eye Shadow Palette [28] (£35) includes 16 new powder hues including two shimmers, eight mattes, three metallics, and three sparkly shades, all in gorgeous neutral tones ranging from a pale, gold-tinged pearl to a decadent rich espresso.

Chanel Sublimage La Lotion Lumière Exfoliante

The new Chanel Sublimage La Lotion Lumière Exfoliante [29] (£123) joins the existing Chanel Sublimage L'Essence Lumière (£350) (as well as a new cream), to make your skin look smoother, suppler, and a whole lot more radiant. Applied with your fingers or a cotton pad after cleansing and before moisturising, the exfoliating lotion breaks up dead skin cells using alpha hydroxy acids and white birch water, leaving your complexion looking brighter and more even in tone. And because it's also hydrating, you'll find it will also help your foundation go on like a dream.

Perricone MD No Makeup Easy Rinse Makeup-Removing Cleanser

Spiked with turmeric as well as green tea, olive leave, and cress extracts, the Perricone MD No Makeup Easy Rinse Makeup-Removing Cleanser [30] (£27) gently removes all of your makeup while leaving your skin feeling soothed and pampered.

Willowberry Reviving Eye Cream

This lightweight eye cream Willowberry Reviving Eye Cream [31] (£27) aims to target any and all issues you may have with the skin around your eyes. Caffeine helps reduce puffiness, hyaluronic acid hydrates and smooths away crepey-ness, while antioxidants and probiotics help protect the delicate area against environmental damage. It also works well under makeup.

Neutrogena Cica-Repair Hand Mask

Neutrogena's newest launch couldn't have come at a better time. We don't know about you, but we've washed our hands so much in the past two weeks our skin is getting tight and even starting to crack in some spots. The Neutrogena Cica-Repair Hand Mask [32] (£4) are an intensely moisturising treatment that aims to soothe and soften superdry hands. Just slip on the gloves — which are lined with a host of nourishing ingredients, leave them on for 10 minutes, and massage the leftover lotion after removing them.

Coco & Eve Bali Buffing Scrub

Coco & Eve want to help you prepare for Summer holidays (or just your next fake-tan session) with a three-step body ritual that includes a body masque, a body butter, and the Coco & Eve Bali Buffing Scrub [33] (£35). In the jar, the exfoliator looks just like watermelon sorbet, and uses coconut flower sugar and finely-milled shell powder to buff away dead skin cells, leaving your limbs softer and smoother and ready to be slipped into a swimsuit.

Caudalie Vinosculpt Lift & Firm Body Cream

The new Caudalie Vinosculpt Lift & Firm Body Cream [34] (£27) has a gorgeous, whipped texture that's slightly richer than the brand's original body lotion. And while both body moisturisers contain grape-seed polyphenols (Caudalie's hero ingredient), this new option also includes shea butter (organic and fair trade from Burkina Faso) and iris extract, the latter of which promises to help firm the skin while the other ingredients work to restore hydration and plumpness.

Sisley Paris Black Rose Eye Contour Fluid

I consider Sisley's Black Rose Cream Mask to be one of the best nourishing masks ever made (and unfortunately one of the priciest). Spread it onto your face before bed and you wake up looking as if you aged backwards, Benjamin Button-style. Seriously. Your skin feels bouncier when you touch it and looks plumper and more radiant. It's why I can't wait to try out the Sisley Paris Black Rose Eye Contour Fluid [35] (£108). It contains some of the same ingredients at the mask (black rose and padina pavonica), with the addition of caffeine (to reduce puffiness), red vine extract, and chlorella extra, both of which help brighten the skin around the eye.
