The Best New Skin-Care Products Launching in June 2021

29/06/2021 - 06:25 PM

Before the pandemic, the beauty industry had already been growing at break-neck speed, with new launches dropping every single day of the week. But after over a year of forgoing makeup (if you've still been wearing foundation every day, we seriously applaud you) and focusing on the status of our skin, the skin-care sector in particular positively exploded. From new launches [1] and collaborations to the recent influx of skin-care lines by celebrities like Jennifer Lopez [2] and Alicia Keys [3], it's become hard to keep track of all of the latest and greatest, as well as what's actually available here in the UK without paying exorbitant shipping fees. Well, that's where we come in. Every month, we round up the most exciting skin-care launches coming to the UK, from classic brands to indie newcomers [4] and all the serums, creams, and sunscreens in between.

June 2021 is an exciting month, and not just because on the 21st, the government might just be able to end all lockdown restrictions (it's important to note that this still hasn't been confirmed yet). Whether you love skin care or you're looking to finally put together a skin-care regimen of your own, you'll be interested to check out our list, which includes Moroccan-inspired brand Whind's new Oasis Fresh Dissolving Jelly Cleanser that smells like our summer holidays, Bioderma's smart two-in-one hand sanitiser and moisturiser with proceeds going to important causes, and Charlotte Tilbury's exciting new primer and SPF hybrid to give us the makeup base of our dreams.

Keep reading to discover all of the skin-care products arriving in the UK this month.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Hyaluronic Clay Pore-Tight Facial

The newest addition to Glow Recipe's fan-favourite Watermelon Glow range is the innovative Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Hyaluronic Clay Pore-Tight Facial [5] (£36). The formula is a hydrating clay mask, which sounds like an oxymoron until you find out how it works. The clay is blended with hyaluronic acid, as well as both PHAs and BHAs (poly and beta hydroxy acids), which means that as the clay is absorbing the excess oil in your skin, the mask is also hydrating and smoothing the texture of your skin (PHAs actually help draw moisture into the skin, which is why they're often suitable for sensitive skin types). Besides the fact it leaves our skin looking plump and radiant, we also can't get over the fun whipped clay texture.

Biossance Squalane + Hyaluronic Toning Mist

As the summer months finally approach, we'll be stocking every bag we have with our favourite mists, which include the new Biossance Squalane + Hyaluronic Toning Mist [6] (£25). This multitasking toning face spray is packed with squalane, green algae, and two types of hyaluronic acid — small and large molecules to give extra hydration — making it the perfect moisture boost for all skin types and the perfect pick-me-up over makeup throughout the day.

Supergoop Glow Stick SPF 50

Supergoop is our go-to brand for hard-working face sunscreens because A) because they don't feel like sunscreen on your skin adn B) they don't look like sunscreen on your skin (so no ashy, white cast). We're particularly fond of the Unseen and Glowscreen [7], but now we have a third to add to the list. The new Supergoop Glow Stick SPF 50 [8] (£22) is a portable, invisible sunscreen stick that you can easily throw throw in your bag to reapply throughout the day. The unique dry oil sunscreen contains hydrating ingredients and leaves your skin with a dewy finish.

Dermalogica Smart Response Serum

Dermalogica Smart Response Serum [9] (£130) promises to address micro-changes in the skin — which could be the result of external damage or self-defence (from over-exposure to UV rays, for example) — before those changes become visible to the naked eye in the form of a wrinkle, dark spot, dry patch, or redness. The serum contains four unique ingredients that the brand says help to soothe (Japanese cornelia cherry), firm (mannose-6 phosphate), brighten (hydrolysed wheat flour), and hydrate (oligosaccharides), in addition to classic skin-care actives like glycerin and niacinamide.

Pai Skincare Carbon Star Detoxifying Overnight Face Oil

Founder Sarah Brown created the new Pai Skincare Carbon Star Detoxifying Overnight Face Oil [10] (£39) in response to hearing from consumers whose skin was "fundamentally imbalanced", she explained over Zoom. And more specifically, for people with oily skin that was also dehydrated and in desperate need of moisture. The result is a clarifying and preventative oil that sits in the brand's Re-Balance range.

The star ingredient is black cumin seed oil, which has anti-bacterial properties that help fight the bacteria that can cause acne. "Carbon Star is like a single malt whiskey in the sense that one hero oil does a lot of the work," Brown said. "The hero oil is black cumin seed (nigella sativa oil), which is very complex in structure, contains enzymes, fatty acids 6,9, and 7, and contains vitamins and antioxidants." Additionally, the oil includes vegetable charcoal, derived from peat, which helps absorb excess oil on the skin, as well as copaiba oil, which is included for its anti-inflammatory properties.

Chanel Hydra Beauty Camellia Glow Concentrate

The newest addition to Chanel's Hydra Beauty range is a gentle-yet-powerful chemical exfoliator. The Chanel Hydra Beauty Camellia Glow Concentrate [11] (£67) helps both hydrate and brighten the skin with a blend of three alpha hydroxy acids — citric, tartaric, and lactic acids (for a refresher on what all of those are, click here [12]) — as well as two active ingredients extracted from camellia flowers (the signature flower of Chanel's fashion house and the key ingredient in the Hydra Beauty line). There's camellia yeast extract, from the camellia japonica, and camellia alba, from the white camellia, both of which help keep the skin hydrated and happy.

Hello Sunday The Take-Out One Multipurpose SPF 30 Invisible Sunscreen Stick

Not, this cute purple tube isn't a deodorant. It's a hard-working, broad-spectrum sunscreen that's both water- and sweat-resistant. The Hello Sunday The Take-Out One Multipurpose SPF 30 Invisible Sunscreen Stick [13] (£14) is a clear SPF in stick form that you can easily keep stashed in your bag (just make sure if you're at the beach, that bag isn't baking in the sun) and apply all you want throughout the day.

Codex Antu Brightening Serum

The Codex Antu Brightening Serum [14] (£85) is the third product in the brand's Antu range, all of which feature a patent-pending ingredient complex created with bio-actives from three plants found in the Patagonian rainforest that have been combined with hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid to protect and support the microbiome as well as strengthen the skin barrier. The serum, in particular, doesn't just reinforce the skin barrier, it also promises to leave skin visibly brighter, smoother, and plumper after continued use.

L'Oréal Paris Revitalift Filler Day Cream SPF 50

One of L'Oréal's best-selling face creams, the L'Oréal Paris Revitalift Filler Day Cream SPF 50 [15] (£20), got a makeover in June to make it even more effective at plumping and protecting your skin. In addition to boosting the sun protection to SPF 50, the brand also added micro molecules of hyaluronic acid (it already contains multiple different weights of the ingredient), which means the HA can penetrate deeper. It also feels a little different, thanks to a new "makimousse technology", according to the brand. Lightweight and whipped, the quick-absorbing cream feels like cashmere on your skin and doesn't leave it feels greasy or tacky in the least.

Verso Daily Glow

If you've put the full-coverage foundation to one side and started to use tinted moisturisers [16] more over the past 12 months, you're going to love the new Verso Daily Glow [17] (£42). The latest launch from the Stockholm-born brand is a skin-care/makeup hybrid packed full of incredible skin-care ingredients like retinol, niacinamide, vitamin C, and hyaluronic acid, which work to brighten your skin throughout the day. The light golden colour of the cream gives an instant glowing, pearlescent effect to your skin — the perfect summer base.

Ren Glow Daily Vitamin C Gel Cream

The Ren Glow Daily Vitamin C Gel Cream [18] (£38) just got an upgrade — a vegan and 100-percent zero-waste upgrade. To make this happen, the product is made using Infinity Recycling technology, helping to recycle mixed plastic, which otherwise ends up in landfill. Ren is the first beauty brand to support the technology. As for the product, it's still the formula we know and love to deliver brighter, glowing skin — even for those with sensitive skin.

Liz Earle Superskin Alt-Retinol Skin Paste

The Liz Earle Superskin Alt-Retinol Skin Paste [19] (£38) is called so because it contains natural ingredients that help refine and smooth the texture of your skin — similar to how retinol does (to be clear, because it isn't a retinoid, your skin doesn't make use of it in the same way, so it's doesn't act in the same way a retinoid would). The ingredient question here is bidens pilosa, also knows as "Spanish needle", which help smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also leaves your skin glowy, thanks to the carrot seed oil in the rich cream.

Olay Regenerist Day Cream SPF 30

Olay's Regenerist cream and its signature red jar is probably one of the most recognisable skin-care products on the high street. It's also one of the most effective. That's why it's super exciting that the brand has gone and created a version — the Olay Regenerist Day Cream SPF 30 [20] (£20) — with sun protection to ensure your skin's safe from UVA and UVB rays when you walk out the door (just make sure you're applying enough to get full protection [21] or layering a face sunscreen on top).

Chantecaille Seascreen 30 Mineral Broad-Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30

The issue around whether some sunscreen formulas are "reef safe" is a nuanced and oftentimes tricky discussion, but it's something that consumers have become increasingly aware of, and brands are catering to that demand. Chantecaille Seascreen 30 Mineral Broad-Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30 [22] (£62) is the brand's first "reef-safe" sunscreen using only mineral UV filters that protect against UVA and UVB rays. To keep skin feeling cool and comfortable, the formula also contains soothing ingredients like aloe vera, bisabolol, and ashwagandha root extract. True to Chantecaille's efforts around wildlife conservation and protection, the Seascreen 30 will also permanently support WildAid's Marine Program.

Loopeco Nutrient Rich Cream Cleanser

Loopeco is a new brand to launch in the UK with a focus on sustainability and a mission to create a closed-loop economy where everything is shared, repaired, reused, or recycled. The minimalist products are the first in the market to be housed in box packaging that is embedded with seeds and using vegetable ink, making them plantable and compostable. Simply cover the box with 3mm of soil, place in a sunny spot, and water to watch the flowers grow. As for the products, we particularly love the Loopeco Nutrient Rich Cream Cleanser [23] (£29), which is a clay formula that gently removes all makeup and grime from the day. The blend of pink clay paired with hyaluronic acid and green tea helps to hydrate the skin whilst removing impurities. The uplifting blend of ylang-ylang, jasmine, and vanilla helps make it a total delight to use, too.

RoC Multi Correxion Revive + Glow Gel Cleanser

The RoC Multi Correxion Revive + Glow Gel Cleanser [24] (£11, originally £13.50) is a new addition to the French brand's best-selling Multi Correxion Revive & Glow range. A combination of vitamin C (the line's key ingredient), glycolic acid, fruit extracts, and peptides, this gel cleanser is like a vitamin shot for your complexion, gently brightening and exfoliating the skin as you wash your face.

Neighbourhood Botanicals Mild Mannered Face Lotion

Honestly, the beautiful packaging is enough alone to make us fall in love with the Neighbourhood Botanicals Mild Mannered Face Lotion [25] (£34). Luckily, the formula is equally as good. If you're at all into lightweight moisturisers, this one is for you. Formulated with aloe vera, calendula, glycerin, jojoba oil, and panthenol, this moisturiser is incredibly hydrating without feeling greasy, and it works perfectly underneath SPF and makeup — just what we want in the summer months.

Charlotte Tilbury Invisible UV Flawless Poreless Primer SPF 50

If you still give the excuse of not wearing SPF because formulas don't work well under makeup, allow the new Charlotte Tilbury Invisible UV Flawless Poreless Primer SPF 50 [26] (£39, available from 24 June) to change that. This smart product is a two-in-one giving the protection of high UVA protection with the elegance of a primer that hydrates and (as the name suggests) gives a poreless finish. What's more, this formula doesn't leave a white cast on the skin as many sunscreens unfortunately do.

Ole Henriksen Cold Plunge Pore Remedy Moisturizer

The new Ole Henriksen Cold Plunge Pore Remedy Moisturizer [27] (£36) is inspired by the "cold plunge" step of the Scandinavian sauna cycle (so you hop into a icy cold bath, and yes it's as torturous and refreshing as it sounds). The oil-free moisturiser actually features a slushy texture that's almost like crushed ice, and provides an invigorating splash of hydration. It's especially good for those with oily or spot-prone skin, as it contains salicylic acids to help clean out clogged pores.

111 Skin Celestial Black Diamond Neck and Décolletage Serum

Luxury skin-care range 111 Skin is founded by British and American board-certified cosmetic surgeon Dr Yannis Alexandrides, who has a practice on Harley Street in London. The brand's newest product, the 111 Skin Celestial Black Diamond Neck and Décolletage Serum [28] (£250), is inspired by a cosmetic procedure Dr Alexandrides carries out in his practise called the Y-lift Surgery, which lifts the face, jawline, and neck of the patient. Whilst a topical product could never deliver the same results as surgery, this serum contains a potent peptide complex that promises to stimulate collagen production, which in turn has a lifting, firming, and toning effect on the neck and chest area with repeated use. Additionally, it contains moisturising ingredients and lactic acid that will help plump the skin and fade any discolouration.

Whind Oasis Fresh Dissolving Jelly Cleanser

Whind might have only come to market a few months ago, but it's already become a firm favourite of ours. And the newest product to drop from the Moroccan-inspired brand is no different. The Oasis Fresh Dissolving Jelly Cleanser [29] (£32) works to gently dissolve makeup and grime from the skin with its jelly texture that turns to a gorgeous milk after mixing with water. The orange-blossom scent is delicious yet subtle, promising to "transport you to Moroccan gardens in bloom", which it absolutely does.

Ciaté London Superfruit Burst Citrus AHA Primer

Hybrid makeup and skin-care products are still proving incredibly popular, and it's no surprise with new launches like the Ciaté London Superfruit Burst Citrus AHA Primer [30] (£24) giving maximum, glowing results. This newbie is all about achieving a just-got-back-from-holiday glow with a blend of AHAs, primrose, and kudzu extracts, as well as a burst of hydration thanks to its hard-working ceramides.

Révive Clarté Vitamin C Brightening Serum

The Révive Clarté Vitamin C Brightening Serum [31] (£225, originally £250) is basically two serums in one sleek tube. Whilst you can't see it from the outside, inside the tube are two chambers, one that contains the L-ascorbic acid, ensuring it stays fresh and doesn't degrade over time, and the other contains a moisturising formula that contains hyaluronic acid, thermal water, biomimetic proteins, and antioxidants. With repeated use it can help fade dark spots, smooth fine lines, and overall make skin result is brighter, plumper, or more radiant.

MIJ Silver Hydrogel Eye Patches

Six months after Maya Jama debuted her skin-care line [32], she's gifting us with a new launch, the MIJ Silver Hydrogel Eye Patches [33] (£14). Like her first under-eye masks, these new patches are super hydrating, but they also contain vitamin C and niacinamide — two gold-star skin-care ingredients according to literally every dermatologist — to help brighten, strengthen, plump, and soothe the delicate skin underneath your eyes.

Odile Paris

Iconic Parisian skin-care brand Odile Paris [34] just launched in the UK. The brand promises maximum results with minimum effort (everyone's skin-care dream, right?), developed to deliver in-salon results at home. The products — including a cleansing balm, an eye gel, a toning lotion, and much more — are highly concentrated using botanical ingredients that are gentle on the skin and suitable for all skin types. Although results-driven, the products are also designed to add a sensorial element to your skin-care routine [35], giving you time to enjoy a moment to yourself.

Frank Body Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Serum

After the success of its face scrub, Frank Body has decided to, well ... continue expanding beyond the beyond the body with a range of skin-care serums, including the Frank Body Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Serum [36] (£17). In addition to HA (this one contains three different types), the serum also contains a number of ingredients high in skin-protecting antioxidants, including gingko biloba leaf extract, ginseng, and vitamin E.

Wildsmith Skin Stillness Body Oil

The Wildsmith Skin Stillness Body Oil [37] (£38) is basically the beauty equivalent of a cup of camomile tea. The silky, non-greasy body oil features a nourishing base of English chia seed and oat kernel oils, which not only both contain omegas 3 and 6 (which are good for preventing dryness), but they also help protect and soothe the skin (with additional help from raspberry seed, evening primrose, and rosehip oils). When it comes to the sensorial aspect, however, the Stillness Body Oil contains rose geranium, lavender, and camomile, which together have an especially comforting and calming effect.

The Organic Pharmacy Advanced Retinol-like Body Oil

The Organic Pharmacy Advanced Retinol-like Body Oil [38] (£55) contains bakuchiol, a plant extract that offers the same skin benefits as retinol, but without the irritation. The natural ingredient has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-bacterial properties, and functions similar to retinol in that it increases cell turnover, which in turn boosts collagen production and results in skin looking firmer and smoother. That means if you use this body oil regularly, it will help increase skin elasticity, brighten tone, and soften the appearance of wrinkles from the neck down.

Summer Fridays Summer Silk Nourishing Body Lotion

We will be slathering ourselves in Summer Fridays Summer Silk Nourishing Body Lotion [39] (£35) all summer long. Not only does the combination of ceramides and plant-derived butters and oils leave your skin silky smooth (and not at all greasy, we were delighted to discover), but the smell is also incredible — a delicious blend of coconut, vanilla blossom, and almond. We may not be able to travel much again this summer, but at least we can dream of the beach every time we break out this stellar hydrator.

Caudalie Vinofresh Deodorant

It's no secret that natural deodorants [40] are a difficult thing to master, but leave it to Caudalie to do just that with the new Caudalie Vinofresh Deodorant [41] (£13). Promising to have 24-hour protection, the deodorant is formulated with organic eucalyptus and prebiotic grape water to control odour whilst hydrating and being gentle enough for sensitive skin. It's also vegan and free of aluminium, fragrance, alcohol, silicone, and bicarbonate of soda.

Sanctuary Spa White Lily & Damask Rose Himalayan Salt Scrub

There's nothing quite like having a hot shower at the end of the day and using a delicious-smelling body scrub like the new Sanctuary Spa White Lily & Damask Rose Himalayan Salt Scrub [42] (£10). Containing a blend of pink Himalayan salts, sweet almond oil, vitamin E, and kaolin clay, the scrub exfoliates, hydrates, and cleanses — all while smelling incredible.

Fussy Deodorant

Fussy [43] is on a mission to ban single-use plastic from the bathroom — one deodorant at a time. The aim is to create a simple, high-quality, natural, and sustainable deodorant that is effective at doing its job and beautiful to look at. Fussy comes in this smart case with five colours to choose from and refillable deodorant sticks in four scents (one is unscented, if that's what you prefer). The subscription service makes it easy to never forget to buy your deodorant again, not to mention cheaper in the long run. The deodorant formula is aluminium- and cruelty-free, vegan, and carbon neutral. Plus, the brand is also B Corp pending. [44]

Bioderma Biphase Lipo Alcoolique Hand Sanitiser

The Bioderma Biphase Lipo Alcoolique Hand Sanitiser [45] (£8, launching 7 June) is here to save our dry hands from all of that handwashing and sanitising. Handwashing and sanitising are essential and have been even more essential during the pandemic, but this has sadly caused dry and sore skin from the stripping effects of alcohol. Bioderma's smart new product is essentially a two-in-one sanitiser and moisturiser, which features an alcohol phase to eliminate viruses and a lipidic phase to hydrate and protect the skin barrier. For the duration of the pandemic, 100 percent of profits generated through sales of the Biphase Lipo Alcoolique Hand Sanitiser will be donated to associations and foundations that work to prevent epidemics.
