Forget the Crown, You Should See Billie Eilish's Natural Blond Hair Colour

Unless you're prepared to go down a dark hole of old YouTube videos of Eilish from back in the day, you have the singer's mom, Maggie, to thank for this throwback photo of her daughter. Turns out, Eilish's natural hair colour is blond, which explains exactly how she's now able to transform her colour into a spectrum of shades so easily (no in-salon lifting required).

Thanks to a surprise remix to her hit record "Bad Guy" — featuring Justin Bieber, duh — fans got a glimpse of what Eilish looked like when she was a fan-girling tween. If you can pull your attention away from the impressive collection of Bieber posters, you'll notice that, here, Eilish's hair is a cool shade of golden blond — presumably her natural colour.

By the time her song "Ocean Eyes" went viral on every streaming service possible, Eilish's hair was an icy platinum blond. Note: Finneas's hair glow-up.

A year later, Eilish started to experiment with her hair colour even more, albeit in a subtle way. Notice the grey undertone to her platinum hair.

Fast forward to 2017 and Eilish seemingly revisited her Daenerys Targaryen hair colour.

A few months later, Eilish took it up a notch and added a cool tone of pastel purple to her hair.

The following year, Eilish appeared on Instagram with a darker shade of blue hair bleeding from her roots to her ends.

By summer Eilish returned to her ol' faithful colour: lilac. Her new look also featured a smudged root.

Looks Eilish missed her blue hair so much that, by 2018, she went back to it — and this time, even darker. Our theory: the darker colour was the perfect long-lasting colour option for Eilish while on tour.

Truth be told, Eilish's pastel blue hair could easily be the results of a washed-out dye. Still, the paler shade of blue looks too rad to ignore.

Later in 2019, Eilish converted her bold shade of blue to a bluish-black, one colour that is shockingly popular among brunettes. Just look at that dimension.

Eilish only rocked this dark black hair colour for a few months, but the colour was so fitting for the star that we were convinced this was her natural colour.

Just as the world started to recognise how unstoppable Eilish was, she proved the fact by not GAF and dyeing her roots a shade of neon green. You know, the perfect contrast to the rest of her black hair.

Eilish temporarily ditched her green roots for brown hair in the new music video for the song "Xanny." But don't worry — this softer look was the work of a really good wig.
